Suicide and depression is really common to teenagers nowadays. To me, the show really shows you that sometimes you can’t see what people are going through. It can be your friends, your family, or even a stranger. But what we can do is to not keep quiet but rather try to approach and talk to them before it’s too late. I’m pretty sure the thought of suicidal is pretty common nowadays. It crossed my mind too sometimes but at the end of the day I realised I only needed someone to talk to, and not feel alone. So to say, I like this show because of it’s approach of telling teenagers or just people in general that, suicide is real and we must help to avoid it.
I didn't get the 13 reasons why craze. ? The plot was so slow and the dramatic acting was too much. Some people finished the show in a day, but I'm like how? I could barely finish an episode a day.
I’m not a fan tbh. I find it romanticised suicide and blaming other people for your decision. There’s a better movie that has a better impact on the audience called To Write Love On Her Arms. To me, while suicide is a very real issue, it’s not something that should be romanticised through tv. There are so many better options to get the word and support out.
Never watched it. Just know that some girl kills herself then makes tapes on why she did it?? Pretty dumb. Then has her friends find them? Correct??
That chick made horrible decision after horrible decision and we're supposed to feel bad for her? No support, terrible show.
The show encourages the victim society we've created. Teach the kids to stop being little bitches about it, and to get over it. No support
I agree with you. Suicide is romanticized through television programs more often than not. While some programs can be eye-opening and helpful to our community, movies and tv shows, like 13 reasons why, are telling teenagers and adults that it's okay to blame other people for your choices. This fictional character, as shown to the viewers, has went through some traumatic events that ultimately factored in on her decision to end her life. The Netflix series romanticizes the idea of suicide by having the teenage boy secretly be in love with her the whole time. More often that not, this is not how situation like these play out. The show made for dramatic entertainment but I wouldn't say it was a great,or even good, series.
^^ agree What also pîssed me off what they stretched it out so long with the episode to milk that extra money, whereas it could of been way better if they got straight to the point.
