Is the substance the problem?

  1.

  2. DRUGS ARE DANGEROUS

USING THE ONES YOU TALK ABOUT RESPONSIBLY REQUIRES LOTS OF FAMILIARITY WITH DRUGS AND PROBABLY DEGREES, DEFINITELY AT LEAST A 12TH GRADE EDUCATION.

    PEOPLE ARE DUMB

THEY WILL USE DRUGS WITHOUT THINKING TOO HARD, AND HARM THEMSELVES

    DON'T LET THEM DO THAT.

Try licensing access to these harder drugs, so they'll be like firearms and ammunition, only at the range, or if you have a license.

  3. Tbh with drugs it’s all about education. That’s why many people die on pills and MD because they don’t know how to look after themselves on it.

(I.e they drink too much water or don’t drink any at all)

However society says drugs are illegal so why should we provide education on the topic (university students).

This is more so what angers me because I’m a uni student and it’s so obvious that people will experiment with drugs (especially at student accommodation) So why can’t universities provide test kits to ensure their drugs are alright and don’t have no crap in there that could Potential kill them. Cause I mean with pills it can be anything in there. And the bare minimum educate students on if you’re on these drugs what to do to look after yourself.

It’s all kind of oh no hush hush can’t educate them because they will do it !!!!

I mean I’ve never once heard anything about what to do if you’re drugged. It’s all about “how to avoid getting your drink spiked”.

  4. My stance is regarding all drugs, alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine included. Considering things like fentanyl or methamphetamine are prescribed, it's important for people using to understand exactly what they're taking. Furthermore, it's important for any individual to have some degree of knowledge about what different drugs do in the case that they are given an opportunity to experiment with them. Prevention isn't just limited to abstinence so that's why education is so important, in my opinion.

  5. I couldn't agree more. I'm a premed student and I definitely see careless drug use from people at the university as well as at the raves I go to. It's much easier for people to just say don't do it! Than actually accept that people might do it regardless. Molly is an especially scary one if people aren't careful, but with a little preparation, you can really do a lot for yourself while having one of the best experiences in your life. But that's a topic for another day haha.

I think this idea of educating people on what to do AFTER someone has taken a drug extends to pharmaceutical drugs as well. Some of the most potent and deadly drugs can be prescribed. Meds are no joke. The only difference is they're cleaner; not safer. I think college campuses would be a great place to focus on education since these people will be the future. They'd also be a great place to buy test kits for street powders/pills since it's so easy to get a hold of some sketchy substance from a friend of a friend.

  6. I agree with both of u

  7. I think the curriculum for drug education needs to be honed drastically if this is ever going to work.

  8. Say NO to drugs. Yes drugs are the problem. They affect us in different ways and most of them have overall negative effects. And with marijuana, I dont believe in smoking anything but i dont think MJ is "bad". So while MJ might be a medicinal drug, i dont support recreational smoking of it. Cigarettes are cancer sticks. Cocaine, heroine, PCP, etc should be avoided at all costs. Even opioids. They get over prescribed and yes the medicine itself is dangerous. They should be administered under supervision or in small doses. Some addictions are healthy and some are not. I dont believe having an addictive habit is bad, the actual habit is what makes it bad. Some people are addicted to cleaning but i've never seen anyone complain of visiting someone's house and it was "too clean".

So again, drugs are not a healthy habit. I say, say NO to all of them. Stop with the "healthy limit" BS bc thats really just promoting a culture of unhealthy habits. Those drugs have harmful effects on health and the brain. (MY OPINION)

  9. I definitely agree. My personal opinion is that the focus needs to go from abstinence to safe use. It doesn't have to get into specifics about each drug. Something as simple as knowing that you should use a test kit for any street substance you get. A shocking number of drug users don't know about drug kits and many deaths or medical issues could be avoided by simply testing your drugs.

  10. I would say they have positive effects overall in my personal experience but that's just my opinion. I think any addiction that gets in the way of life (responsibilities or a healthy level of socializing) is problematic. I've actually had a friend who was so obsessed with a clean bathroom, she couldn't focus on her academics whenever we would all study at her house and had to use the bathroom. Cocaine is used in eye surgery, heroin is actually being used to treat those withdrawing from opioids, and pcp is used in veterinarian medicine (used to be used for human surgery before people complained about its intoxicating effects after waking up).

Thanks for your opinion. I wouldn't have a problem with a world without drugs (while it wouldn't be as interesting, it'd be safer for the general public at this point in time. But that's another discussion), but they do exist. Some are definitely lifesaving so overall, I'm thankful that they do exist, despite their destructive potential. But that's just me!
