Is the substance the problem?

  1. My point completely flew over your head.

I’m not acting like a know it all I’m pointing out your fault that you’re trying to talk about people’s experiences in general because of your bad wording.

    You should of wrote:

What are YOUR experiences with marijuana (good or bad). Let’s compare experiences and see how it made us feel.

  2. That is not always the case. And the drugs causing the problem in that movie were much different in their properties than weed.

  3. I do apologize, Aphrodite. I did misunderstand your post. I'm not curious about people's experiences, as I have many and many friends that I could just ask. I'm curious about how people see getting high in conjunction with society and if they think it's use can be present without affecting overall productivity within society. I don't really mind if people weigh in without ever having tried a substance, just if they have an opinion on it that isn't solely based on "this one person I know" or stereotypes.

    Cheers

  4. It’s the choices we make in the situations we face... and it always will be. I will never understand how anyone could make it more than what it is.

The responsibility lies in the controller of the substance no matter what level that may be. If an individual is somehow able to obtain a substance illegally, the responsibility, at that point, lies with that individual administering the drug. Changing the drug laws will not immediately change the accessibility of the drug... if it is already illegal to have it without special permission in the first place. (Changing search and seizure laws might) Getting rid of the drug completely may create problems for people who need the drug to benefit their quality of life. If the drug is legal and permission and expert council is obtained, then that responsibility is somewhat shared with the prescriber of the drug.... especially if the user in care of someone else, had no knowledge of the drug beforehand.

    Water is wet yet again....

In the mean time, we debate and spin our wheels politically, regulating the regulations, while people still die or are harmed from those or the similar effects of other substances that slipped through the cracks... and also fail to see the possible benefits of those substances that may be beneficial and bring remedy to an epidemic... harming and possibly killing patients searching for aid with our hesitations.

Easiest blame always goes to the Government, Big Phama, “Illegal Terrorists” (My personal fave) Cartels... the D.A.R.E. Program... Police. (Which can be argued are all gears in the same machine)

The hardest blame is ourselves; our actions and way of life.

There is a small percentage of people in this world that will do mostly wrong no matter the consequences.

    Luckily,

There is also small percentage of people in this world that will do the right thing most of the time no matter the consequences... and it’s about even in numbers with the group that does mostly wrong.

    Unfortunately,

There is a group larger than both those previous groups combined, that only do the right things because they don’t want to experience the possible consequences of their actions.

This is ALMOST the most dangerous group...

Except there is a group of people smaller than the smallest of all those groups...

Waiting... to react to the actions of all three of those groups and provoke those groups using the reactions to their own advantage.

And here, in my humble opinion, lies your true problem.

  5. I appreciate your very articulate response. I agree that it's an individual problem. That's the answer I wish to invoke with my status which asks if it's the substance or the user that causes problems.

That being said, I definitely agree that politics is focused on the substance rather than the individual using the substance and it would be difficult and quite honestly, unethical for politicians to try to eradicate any substance completely from being produced since many illegal substances still have a medical application (or did before they were made illegal).

No worthwhile solution is simple, but I believe the solution for this problem STARTS (but isn't limited to) with education.

  6. I couldn’t agree more.

  7. If you do drugs, overdose.

  8. Do you know how much coffee you'd have to drink for that to happen?

  9. Do I look like I care? Do it

  10. My friend said to me people usually stop using drugs, when they got into hospital or when they died because of overdoses.

  11. If you end up in the hospital due to drug use, I think that says something about the lack of responsibility in the person.

  12. Who actually gives a two spit flying duck though?
Do you think your perspective is rare or that this conversation it important? It isn't. Nobody cares. Take your drugs and inject them up your butt.
