Wolf Travels Again! -Palawan-

  1. Hey guys, been a while since I've made a thread. Sorry, no comic still but I just want to share my recent adventure in El Nido, Palawan!

We were worried because weather reports were saying that it had been raining in El Nido for a week! It is the rainy season in the South East Asian side of the world. Typhoon season, even. But we hoped that the weather would be better. And it was!

So we approached our resort, feeling pretty good about the weather. The water was really inviting too!

[Interesting pro tip for you Pokemon Go players, when on a fast moving boat, use some incense. I got a loooooot of random Pokemon doing that. Strangely, I got a bunch of fire pokemon on the water which is pretty ironic. You're welcome.]

We were greeted warmly by the staff and given this pretty refreshing concoction of Watermelon and ginger. It's not as gross as it sounds, promise.

Now, Palawan has a very rich biodiversity of plants and animals. The island we visited was not an exception either. We caught this guy crawling around the sandy path. He got shy and hid in the bushes though. Island is filled with them. They're called water monitor lizards!

Just look at that awesome stretch of beach. I had an awesome time taking pics. Not gonna lie. And in case you're wondering, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to take these photos.

We were invited to go snorkeling with some pretty interesting fish in the open sea. Well, not middle of the ocean, of course. But what interesting fish, you ask?

Black tip reef sharks, of course! Yes, I said shark. We went swimming with sharks.

    "Hey! I think I lost a toe!"

Don't give me that look. We were assured that they were safe. Well, unless you do something stupid like annoy or threaten them.

    "Your face. I disapprove."

(I did not take a pic of that shark by the way. My phone can only do so much.)

Anyway, waves were getting pretty choppy so we didn't have much time there. We traveled to this lagoon and lookit this guy. He's selling soda and coconuts on his little kayak. He goes from boat to boat to see if anyone wants refreshments. Awesome!

Now, onto my favorite part of the trip. Kayaking! We were pretty lucky because we had the entire lagoon to ourselves for a while until the rest of the others came along.

There's something about kayaking in a lagoon by yourselves. My older sister even remarked about it being TOO quiet. But it was a great experience.

Now, I actually wasn't supposed to kayak that day or do anything near the water since I was exhausted from the previous day's activities. But I got jelly :(

So, I got in with my non-swimmy clothes and went all treasure hunter adventurer mode and just brought my dry bag to protect my phone in case!

I even got to pull off some selfies! :D

"pls no drop phone pls pls careful careful"

The risk at bringing my phone over saltwater was worth it! Got to take awesome shots like this one. Fun fact: No matter how water resistant your phone is, they don't like saltwater.

On the day we left, the sky looked great and the sun shone brightly. My niece demanded I snap a model-y pic as I was somehow unanimously nominated as trip photographer :|

As we sailed away, the staff actually followed and sang us a farewell song with a guitar and all. And then they waved. And waved... and waved some more. I was actually trying to see how long they'll keep waving at us and it was only after we got onto the bigger boat to sail away that they stopped.

"Oh my god, I am burning in the sun! Are they gone yet??"

We boarded the awesome propeller plane, ready to go home!

In hindsight, it was pretty surreal. Like wow, that happened? But yeah, it was awesome. Hope you guys enjoyed the thread!
