With so many people criticizing those posting about the homophobic attack in Orlando for "not doing anything," I thought I'd provide some options for physically helping. HERE is how to check your eligibility to donate blood to the survivors. If you are eligible, you can contact OneBlood to find the nearest donation centre. HERE is the official donation page to support the victims and families. HERE is an LGBT support and counseling centre in Orlando if you or someone you know needs help at this time. They are also looking for counselors in the area to assist with supporting those in need. The Orlando Centre's hotline for LGBT counseling is 1-407-228-1446 And as it's been overshadowed by the western world's killings, I'd just like to bring attention to the tragedies in Syria this week as well: the president of Syria dropped barrel bombs on the town of Daraya as aid was delivered to its citizens for the first time in years; death toll undetermined. 20+ were later killed in a double bombing at a shrine in Damascus. If you'd prefer to donate to the refugees of Syria, HERE is an official UN donation link. If you're unable to help in these ways, know that your understanding and sympathy for all victims in these situations IS appreciated. The LGBT community needs unity and support in all forms right now, just as all victims of attacks around the world.
Something actually useful in forums instead of the inconclusive whining about nothing getting done. Thank you for taking initiative and pushing people towards it. At least you actually TRIED instead of just crying on forums.
tysm both of you! it's an issue that hits home fur me, but im not one fur hashtags and petitions, so i thought it would be much better to share other options, especially considering i cant give blood myself
