Olympics 2016 and Zika

  1. No support to ur answer why would ppl would risk their health for the Olympics in Brazil move it to China to we won't have anything stopping the games

  2. I think it's completely irrelevant what country it's in. Only important thing is how it affects the country's tourism industry

  3. How are you talking about "fair" to a country? That's like saying it's "fair" to let little johnny have a birthday party with 100 people when you know he has Ebola. Nomsayin?

  4. Health is of primary concern.
The "dignity" of this country is of no significance whatsoever. Heck. Postponing the Olympic games for another 4 years isn't even as outlandish as tradition would have you thinking. Just take a step back.

Although I must wonder about all of the poor workers who lost their lives working on the stadium there :( their lives would be lost for nothing. As if they were lost for anything more than neglect.

Rest in Peace. Let's not allow the 2016 Olympic Games cost any more lives to Zika or whatever else than it already has.
Changing the venue to China sounds alright. But I believe there are plenty more countries with the facilities to host.

  5. I hope they are working with Brazil to come up with a solution. Health is definitely the primary concern, but the event is kind of a source of pride for a country to have the opportunity to host, so I'm sure they're probably thinking of ways to minimize risk or considering postponing themselves

Anyway, I feel like the global scale of the event is the primary cause if concern. You have people from every region of the world gathering in a place affected by a virus we haven't figured out how to contain. And since the virus (like someone else said) hands already left that region with cases appearing in other places I'd say that's kind of grounds for creating complications for everyone's safety.

  6. Is it a "serious scare" like Ebola was for about a minute and a half? Like the bird flu? Swine flu?

Maybe I'm just cynical af but I'm starting to question just how serious these outbreaks are. Every time one gets media attention suddenly it's a huge deal and everyone is paranoid it could become an epidemic and guess what? None of them have.

So I say, let Brazil host the damn Olympics. Nowhere else could do it without years of preparation and by then the 2020 Olympics would be here or near enough with that prechosen destination ready to host and new competitors ready to take the spot of those who would be competing this year.

  7. And what about what Brazil has put in to it?

  8. Anyways Brazil already responded to that report by the doctors, it was something like this:

  9. why china? do you happen to be from there or around you? why not alaska or ireland or any other country ? plus zika isnt that dangerous and precautions already taken. and in case you don't know each country has unique set of diseases so your plan is to make countries disease free before doing any event ? lol

  10. Change location to somewhere not currently affected with the virus. Doesn't make sense to assist the spread of Zika by having it in Brazil. They'll get a chance another year.

  11. Kefo is right lmao like wtf

  12. Or, give ample warning to men and women traveling to Brazil for the Olympics, since a man can have sexual interaction with a woman and pass the virus or a woman can be of childbearing age or already pregnant, which could affect the health of her unborn child(ren). Not sure exactly how long the affects of the virus will cause harm to unborn children, if it's a lifetime ordeal or just for the period of time that an individual undergoes symptoms.

Or quarantine people returning from Brazil, if you want to be extreme about it.

  13. I don't care who gets sick as long as they have a starting show as great as Russia's Winter Olympics.

  14.
