I have had this discussion a lot of times and I'm wondering what you value more? Realistically speaking, the answer will depend on the situation so I will phrase the question this way: Do you find yourself leaning towards justice or mercy? Why? I myself am more inclined towards justice but I feel most people feel the same way. But I guess the difference would lie in the reason for it.
I hate bs ? that's prolly why I have no friends But meh, the friends I do have know that I'll stand up for them if they have a genuine reason I'm generally quite away from situations old experiences have ruined me but it means I can think about stuff before diving into it. Definitely justice
Justice or Mercy? As you said that's very relative and usually I don't see them as parallel things but anyway, I'm more inclined to justice.
Why must justice and mercy be mutually exclusive? Justice does not have to mean a life for a life. And mercy does not mean "let him go free". I believe that not only do the two overlap, but in the vast majority of cases, the best solution for everyone involved often has a full measure of both.
I think we all have a natural inclination toward justice, until we find ourselves as the accused. Suddenly we become much greater proponents of mercy.
In my personal life, mercy. I think the Courts should not just lean towards, but be, justice. And I'm thankful the God doesn't give justice to His followers, only mercy.
I feel that we as people are set up to do the work that we can do, only as people. This is truly a hard topic, but I would choose both - but here's why. God Almighty rules with Justice, yet He gives Mercy when we don't deserve it. So many times in our lives, we live to only "give Justice" - Yet this comes out as pure hatred (often racially). Overall, it would depend on the situation, but both are needed.
Mercy, if there's remorse Justice, if there isn't any Either ways, we shouldn't be leaning on one side more than the other, but carry both sides with equal strength, knowing when to use them as a great leader would.
Now that Mr. Trump will be the Republican nominee, if he wins the Electoral College, I wonder if he will be just or merciful.
This is how i see it. It is human nature that we incline towards mercy but as we grow up we have learned to adapt to society's judgement as our own. Mercy doesn't always mean "letting it go" instead it is a mean of putting matters into a more humane and compassionate way meanwhile justice is administering fairness. Im on the side of mercy, no it isnt about the forgive and forget motto. Instead it is 'to forgive but never forget'
Mercy ? I must be a rare one. I think most "criminals" become that way because of circumstance (poverty, lack of resources, inner-family and domestic abuse, etc). I lean more towards rehabilitation than punishment.
