"what are you today? a girl or boy?" My father ridiculed over his coffee and newspaper. I silently ate my cereal as my mother gently set her cup down on the table. "Johnathan, I swear if you make our child miserable!" My mom gave her death glare. I smiled a bit then finished up breakfast then went upstairs. My mother and father started arguing as I started applying some makeup gently. "He is a freaking 14 year old!!" My father claimed. "He is just needing to learn he is a boy!!" I started stripping out of my clothes. First my shirt. "Our child can be whatever, you remember what you promised when our child was born!?" My mother screamed at him. I then slipped out of my pants then went to my wardrobe. "I never promised to suppport something that just appears out of thin air!!" My father yelled and stormed off I put on a skirt and a long arm shirt as the front door slams. My mother follows that with some strange noises of anger and silly cursing. I slid on my leggings then walked downstairs with my bag and necessities. "Honey, you ready for school?" My mom sighed then turned to smile at me. I nod then put on my shoes while she puts on hers. We walk out to the car together, crowded by catcalling and whistling. I get in the car and lock the door quickly as one of the guys start walking towards us. My mother drives off towards the school and plays the radio. "Mom, dad hates me, right?" I look at her directly "what? No, honey, no...he is just worried about society...." My mother struggled to piece the words together "Don't lie to me, I can tell when you lie" I sighed "I'm sorry baby, he just wasn't expecting this. I cannot understamd why he hates this, but I will always love you baby" My mom stopped at my school then kissed my forehead. "bye mom!!" I smile and go to school I walk up the grand steps into my school, then towards the gathering area. My school is filled with jocks, cheerleaders, and has little of people like me, or the genius people who want a future. "Meggy!!" My friend called from our original seats. I walk over and sit in my seat, followed by my other friends. My two best friends from childhood, Tiffany, and Jake, both of which know me personally. "hows your day so far Meggy?" Tiffany asked, fiddling with her bracelets. "could have gone better Tiff, my father got into a fight with my mother again" I sighed A guy brushed his hand against my back, causing me to shiver as he went by. I turned to see it was Jeff, the school star. Everyone adored him for his athletic abilities, but I think he is overrrated for me. "stupid freak...." I muttered in disgust and look at my friends. "Oh Jeff...." Tiff sighed and trailed him dreamily with her eyes "don't tell me you like him" I look at Tiff in surprise "I thought you liked me!" Jake protested "huh...? No way! I don't have the hots for Jeff!!, and ew Jake!" Tiff lightly shoved him
"looks like I have to try hard since there is a chance" Jake grinned and grabbed her hand. Jake is a total gear-head, but he does read a bit. He loves his cars as much as he loves girls, which is kinda disgusting to me. I personally don't want a guy to be all over me like I am a car, I want a guy to be respectful of myself and who I want to be. The bell rang suddenly and we got up to get to our classes. Jake tries conning us into racing him to our class and we both reject. Inside our class, we are learning math from Mr. Loves. Mr. Loves is great at math! He teaches us in a way we can all understand. I wish he were to be my father because he seems more accepting of what people are. Today Mr. Loves taught us about currency exchange and budgeting. I took the diploma math class with my friends, Tiff and Jake agreeing to join. After Mr.Loves finished teaching us, the bell rang and we went to our next class, chattering about our weeks. Next was Social with Mr. Hearse, he was quite rude to all the students and had hearing like a wolf! If someone would even drop their pencil he would get mad. He still taught us decent social. After that school just kinda flew by, ELA with Mrs. Brunham, who is sweet and thoughtful of everyone's education. Science with Mr. Lomar, who really seems quite excited and fidgety, but is still good at his job of teaching. After school I saw my mom in her car,waiting for me. I walked to the car and got in. "hey sweety, how was your day?" My mom looked at me, her eyes were puffy and red like she cried. "Mom, are you ok?" I looked at her worriedly "No sweetheart, your father decided to get a divorce and leave us" My mother choked on divorce and leave, still sad about it. I embraced her in a hug to try and calm her down. "It's ok mom, he was rotten anyways" I hug her tight After my mom calmed down we drove home in silence. I got out and went into the house, followed by my mom. "So what do you want for dinner sweetheart?" My mom looked at me "Let's make some cheese and macaroni" I smiled at her. We both got started on making cheese and macaroni together, her filling the pot, me pouring the macaroni in, us watching it boil. I smiled and poked her side, which surprised her. She tried to poke me back, to which I jumped back. I smiled and picked up the sink hose and sprayed her. "You did not!!" My mother gasped dramtically then lunged forwardsto grab it. I ducked out of the way and sprayed her again and laughed. She giggled a bit and lunged for it while I laughed, snatching it up. I dodged her as she tried to spray me with the hose. "I am gonna get you!" She laughed, aiming and spraying at me I kept trying to duck but after a while she got me and we both broke down laughing. We both laugh really hard for a minute then we calm down to grab the Macaroni and mix the cheese in to eat it. We both eat then wash, dry, and put away the dishes. After that we both go upstairs, her to her room and me to mine. I fall asleep immediately and my mother falls asleep after a half hour. The next day my mother wakes me then goes downstairs. I get up and strip out of my clothes, going to my wardrobe. Today I grab shorts and a t-shirt then I put them on. "hurry up or I can't drive you!!" My mother called up to me. I walk downstairs to breakfast, gobble it up, then grab my backpack. My mom grabs her keys and we both put on our shoes then go to the car. "Thomas, don't tell anyone about your father today, please?" She looks at me "I promise" I hug her We both embrace in the hug then she drives off towards the school. I look out my window as she drives. After a while she stops at my school. "Bye mom!" I get out of my seat and run to the school. Inside the school I go to my friends and sit down. "Hey Thomas, you missed school yesterday" Jake remarked "Sorry, I was sick Jake" I gave him a fistbump and we talked casually
"Alright, can we get this bromance away for the day?" Tiff rolled her eyes and shoved us towards our class as the bell rang. We took our spots and listened to all our teachers talk about the prom then teach. "Hey Jake...you think of taking Tiff to the prom?" I muttered, grinning "Always gotta try to get her to say yes" Jake grinned back "I heard that" Tiff jabbed us both in the side with her pencil. "Ouch!" I protest as my body jolts to the side. "Do you have anything to say? Thomas?" Mrs. Brunham glanced at me sternly "N-no...I um....accidentally stabbed myself with my pencil" I stammered, completely flustered "Yes well please feel free to grab a duller pencil if you like, less...stabby if you feel" the class snickered at her comment. I felt my face flush into embarrassment as Tiff writes down notes. The bell rang, dismissing us from classes to go home. "So Tiff....you feel like going to the prom?" Jake asked, trailing in front of me but beside her. "Oh, um...sure, but this isn't a date or anything!" She turns away as we walk, her ducking out to grab a bite as she claims. We stand near the school, chatting about games until my mom comes then I hop into her car. "How did school go Thomas?" She smiled as she drove off. I sat my bag between my legs then looked at her. "Mom, school is going great!" I grin and pull out my phone from my bag "Oh I'm so glad to hear that honey." My mom smiles. I look on my phone and stumble across a text message from Tiff, asking if she is crazy or if my mom is also Meggy's or looking alike. I reply with a "you're just crazy" then shut my phone off.
"Hey mom, we should get a large salad and eat together" I suggested excitedly "Ok, lets grab a Greek salad" she smiles and drives towards a restaraunt. Once we arrive I leave my bag in the car then get out. Mom and I go into the restaraunt then we pick a spot to sit. She motions for a waiter and orders a large Greek salad. "So...how are your friends?" My mom looks at me. "Great, I'm kinda scared to tell them that thing....but they are doing great, even though they are not as good in class" I look her back. "That's pretty good" The waiter comes back and hands us our Greek salad. "Thanks" my mom looks at the waiter. We both slowly begin to eat as the waiter walks off to help someone else. The Greek salad tastes good and properly made. My mom and I finish then we pay and leave. Once inside the car, my mom looks at me. "We should go to a movie" she smiles. "We should" I smile back at her "What movie do you think we should watch?" "Well...I heard from my friends about some movie about a superhero who is able to do some crazy stuff, I don't really remember what they called it though" "Alright, we will find out when we see it" My mom drives off
