Hello there! You guys know me as Wolf or Nick but that’s not important. Today, I’m going to bring you into my world a bit. Why? Because I think that there’s a lot of potential in a forum where you can share things with people who are in different parts of the world or something like that. Anyway. I just want to show you how I get to “work”. At least, my weekend work which is different from my current day job. So let’s get started! Here I am taking a walk towards Starbucks. Looking good. Ahh, okay. We’re settled! Yes, that’s a lot of notebooks. They each have their function for my dysfunctional brain. No, there isn’t anything naughty on my computer so stop trying to check. If you really must know, that’s an iced green tea latte. Maybe you’ve tried reading what’s on that little orange notebook. It’s Tagalog for “I wish I had a computer” which is kind of ironic considering it’s next to one. I’m not really sure if I used “ironic” the right way. I like the big, hardwood tables in Starbucks. That sounded wrong. So, I’ve been in kind of a slump after the holidays. (Must have been some kind of epic food coma.) I’m trying to kickstart my inner creative engine again and I figured I should start from scratch! So, I’ve created this. Pls don’t judge my writing. That pen is a Uni Jetstream pen. 0.38 My favorite pen. Yes, yes. I actually put forums into my real, daily life. I will be judged accordingly. I have random priorities in my life. I really like tea. Instagram is actually pretty helpful with my productivity for some reason. I seem to like lists. They organize my LIFE Yes, yes. That’s a bear. Shut up. Time for some SKETCHES!!! I can’t exactly show everything else I’m doing but I’ll show you guys this part. Artists need to practice every day no matter how good they are. FOREVER. And frankly, I’m not that amazing of an artist so I need tons of practice. Anyway, I’ll show you a few of my practice stuff and you’ll notice they’re in brush pen. I love brush pens. First off, I start with some gesture sketches of the people in the coffeeshop. Those two ladies seem to be having an awfully intense conversation. That guy’s been there for quite a while. Hmm. In my animation days, we were taught to sketch out “gestures” in under a minute or ten seconds. The idea was to nail the overall gesture of what you’re drawing and a simple gesture like that really brings life to a drawing. (Which is how I do my stick figures here.) Next, I want to show you something I struggle drawing without reference. (well, that’s everything but something I want to draw but I’m struggling to.) YES. I STRUGGLE WITH WOLVES. They’re pretty hard to draw for some reason. I already got some of its anatomy wrong here but practice makes perfect. A great artist once advised us to draw with pen and NOT cover up our mistakes by erasing or shading because we learn a lot that way. He was right. Now, I want to show you guys another thing we were taught. Anatomy I won’t go into the nitty gritty of that but let’s just say we had to draw an entire skeleton and an entire muscular system. With specific parts. We’re taught to be really, uh, intimate with our subjects because you draw better what you really understand. It also helps with movement when animating stuff. You’ll understand certain limits of a creature or object. That way it doesn’t come off awkward. And I found it pretty weird when it was pointed out that the “elbow” part of animals are actually the wrist. It’s weirder when you’re drawing animals with hooves as you can see. Next, the horror story of every artist. HANDS Yeah, I'm my own worst critic. Ehh. We were taught that once you master hands, you can pretty much draw everything. I suspect he was also correct about that. The struggle is real. Anyway, that concludes my sneak peek or something into my work. Before I go off, I’d like to ask you guys a question! Just to attempt to spread some sort of productivity or something into forums. If you could have any job at all without any consequences or having to worry about money that would put value into the world, what would it be? Thanks for reading!
To answer the question, I'd probably be some kind of musical performer.? I enjoy singing, and I'd like to think I'm not that bad at it.? I also enjoy doing it, but not everyone makes it soz.?
Once you get the day job part, you can fund it as a side thing and it'll be awesome. It's really so like you to insult and compliment me.
Would could that bear possibly mean? ? If I could have any job I'd probably be a surgeon. I'd love to be able to look at blood and not want to blow chunks. ?
I actually used to be squeamish until I watched and played enough gory stuff. when you think of the human body as a system of stuff it also lessens the gross factor.
Nice thread. I really enjoyed learning about your day. I am also a list maker. It is the only way i can get anything done. I would be a doctor of naturopathy. Taking medicine back to the basics before pharmaceutical and insurance companies corrupted it would be amazing. They aren't recognized as doctors where I live, so I would likely also move to a place where they are recognized and I could live a sustainable lifestyle.
