  1. Opinion on Jury Nullification

    So what is jury nullification?
It's where the juries are able to call someone not guilty even when the judge's verdict is guilty. This basically overrides what the judge says. There are definitely 2 sides to this and arguments that include racism, being biased, socio-economic points, etc.

I am well aware that this isn't something all countries have, but the US for sure does. It's actually hidden from the public as the court views it negatively. It undermines the power of the judge which the court clearly does not like. They believe the everyday people carry a biased view based on the society they are brought up in. Furthermore, people against jury nullification say that the law is the law and that it cannot be messed with. Others believe that the judge's ruling should be able to change due to the juries as it acts like another branch of the checks and balances. In addition, people argue that the judge is biased and by letting people override the judge's verdict, it eliminates the possible biased the judge has. Instead, it allows the people (juries) to even out the imbalance in a sense. This is just the basic idea of jury nullification.

I just wanted to throw it out there since I don't really see much stuff that is "real life" related. A couple here or there, but not many. For those who love arguing or just discussing topics, what's your stance on jury nullification? Should it be valid? Why?

This isn't an exciting thread or anything. Nor was my stress one lel. I dunno if people on here are interested in things like this ??
