Changing a parenthesis into a multiplication symbol just because they did the same thing would defeat the purpose of the parenthesis in the first place. You can look it up for yourself if you aren't satisfied. I can't explain math well but I'm pretty sure that you can't just assume symbols are exactly the same.

 

I was trying to say what Brownie here did. The parentheses would only play a part if it was variables or something.
