Calories or Sugar?

  1. I've been watching lots of documentaries about food and whatnot for a while now. Last documentary I've watched is called Fed Up. It talks about the causes of obesity and how our consumption of food has changed. Watching that documentary has made me think about the products I buy at the store and what my idea of calories was all about. This made me wonder, what do you guys pay attention to on the label when you buy food? Do you look for less calories or do you try to buy products with less sugar?

  2. It really depends on all the food you have that day and really that week. Some people work well on lower calorie lifestyles and so looking at calories is important. However I look at carbs and what type of carbs they are. Dietary fiber are good carbs along with some complex carbs for myself (jasmine rice and wheat toast some times some starches ) but that's when I do high intensity workouts that are over 45mins. Others choose lower amounts of carbs and eat protein and veggies all day; with no carbs to store the fat any fat from the meat you pee out (Sorry it's a little graphic). Researching and trying what works best for your body is the best thing to do, also talk to your doctor and they can help suggest weight lose ideas/plans and help you make up a Maintenance plan that works for you for the rest of your life.

  3. I look at calories. And Types of fats.

  4. That sounds pretty cool that you know what works for you. You seem very informed about the food you consume and even work out?
I just try to eat what's good for me and what I found out is that I have more energy with veggies and fruits. I also eat different proteins. That said, I try not to eat food that has lots of sugars in them. I'd prefer an apple instead of a snickers or anything like that. Not to mention that the way we modify our foods constantly makes me very cautious. I grew up with foods that weren't modified to have less fat in them and they were all grown and produced locally, which is what I look for most times when I am shopping for food. Even though it seems like I'm a health freak, I do get take outs. Pho is my passion 

  5. High carb low fat vegan
I don't like or eat junk food so I don't really check the calories/sugar

Most of the stuff I buy comes from this organic market. I make my own food.

  6. I look at saturated fat and sugars, I honestly don't understand everything on the label's .. also depends on what it is tho like if I'm tryna lose a few lbs then I look at calories too

  7. I pay attention to the nails they put in my McDonald's burgers?

  8. I look at sugar, salt/sodium, and fat content. Even if something is sugar free, the makers will probably up the sodium and fat content to make up for the flavor. Same with low fat and low sodium items.

  9.

  11. I dont pay attention to either. I pay attention to the sell date.

  12. Fun fact. Yesterday I made my first visit to McDonald's. And I bought a cookie. :)

  13. I look at calories and ingredients.

  15. I eat pretty much anything I want calorie-wise, my only worry is not spending too much on restaurants of any kind. Usually I have 3 of the square packs of ramen noodles for breakfast, keeps me going all day without being hungry, not to mention I've been losing weight. How I do it is after I nuke them in water I add the flavor packs, mix, then dump all but an ounce of the fluid. Cuts out a lot of the salt but leaves plenty of flavor, I eat them like spaghetti. Plus it's SUPER cheap, I get them 99 cents for a package of 6. Just make sure you find a brand you like, I like Maruchan.
