@ Kalari everyone needs a confidence boost like a compliment or something to make them feel good such as flattering clothes. But I just don't understand why people feel they need it.
I'm not sure... When I was younger, around 14-15, I was a bit insecure so I used makeup to cover up any flaws and to make myself feel more attractive. Eventually I became sort of dependent on it and I didn't want to go out without at least foundation. I feel like it's the same for a lot of young people, but I found that's something that I grew out of a bit.
I see a lot of younger females wearing it to not make them feel good but to get the attention of these little hormonal boys walking around
@simonesays- I've seen that too and it's a little disheartening, but even for younger girls, it isn't always about getting the attention of boys. I obviously can't speak for everyone but for my friends and me, it was kind of about learning to feel confident in our bodies.
@Kalarei it is but that's what I've seen in my teenage years and still do. I'm actually disappointed in what people are coming to now
There's nothing shameful or wrong about makeup, but women shouldn't feel the need to wear it either. It's ridiculous — they're shamed for not wearing it (I read an article that said women are less likely to be hired if they don't wear makeup) and they're shamed for wearing too much. I wear makeup because it's fun and I like the way I look in it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
@op How is that terrible? I'm genuinely curious. How is wearing crazy colors of lipstick or eyeshadow any different from wearing bright clothes to express yourself? Or using makeup to accentuate some features and downplay others any different from wearing clothes that do the same thing? Do you think clothes are terrible too and everyone should just wear the same garbage bag every day
The article you said you read that women are less likely to be hired due to not wearing makeup. That right there is terrible. Not getting hired over something so petty. Say they qualify for the job, they don't get hired for not wearing makeup? That's terrible
Oh duh my bad? Yeah, the employers interviewed said they expected women to wear makeup because it was unprofessional not to. Whaat??
How in the world is that unprofessional? If it's not mandatory then of course they aren't going to wear it, better yet why should makeup be mandatory in any work-field?
Because they fuck ing want to, don't GIMME this CRAPPY society bullcrap about society wanting you to fuck ing wear it, its a freaking excuse. They wear it because they want too. If your job requires you to do something you don't wanna do then quit and tell em to suck your invisible man "eggplant" bruh
Some girls just want to wear make up causes they want to, doesn't always mean they are trying to impress boys. Some only use minimal make up or non at all
