Ok so I know this might be ridiculous and dumb but I'm curious about getting wisdom teeth pulled out.. In 5 more days I get my two bottom wisdom teeth pulled. I will be put under the meds and sedation I believe it's called. And I'm asking out to those who have already have had it done does it hurt when its being pulled? Or being asleep ..lol kinda scared I won't wake up but I'm sure I shall. I am just curious how will it be and feel like .
This is the job for google! When awake, I've been told you feel a tugging sensation (not pain per se, but tugging). I imagine the actual pain comes after the operation. Make sure to use pain meds and ice your jaws! They'll be swollen for a few days.
The title of this post should be " Help! It's my death sentence tomorrow!" because that's how bad having your wisdom tooth pulled, how much more if they pull more. Just playin ya goodluck though. Ask your mun for lots of ice cream. ??
Imagine there's a train travelling down the country down the tracks at a downward angle of 34 degrees, with an ascending speed speed of 20 miles per quarter-minute. Imagine it being a train transporting iron beams per cart, being a 1.8 mile long train, each cart weighing in a whopping 7 tons. The train has no breaks. Pretend your face is at the very bottom of the hill, right on the tracks. Now multiply the weight of the train by the speed and the decline, the result is how much force would hit your face. Thats how much it hurts afterwards
It doesn't really hurt afterwards, it's just awkward because of the blood and drool. Nothing to worry about. Just do your research on who is doing it. =)
It only hurts when you wake up and the pain medicine has worn off. I personally did my best to avoid letting the pain medication effects disappear
I did some research and this is what I found: In most cases, the recovery period lasts only a few days. Take painkillers as prescribed by your dentist or oral surgeon. The following tips will help speed your recovery. Bite gently on the gauze pad periodically, and change pads as they become soaked with blood. Call your dentist or oral surgeon if you still have bleeding 24 hours after your surgery. While your mouth is numb, be careful not to bite the inside of your cheek or lip, or your tongue . Do not lie flat. This may prolong bleeding. Prop up your head with pillows. Try using an ice pack on the outside of your cheek. Apply for 15 to 20 minutes at a time for the first 24 hours. You can use moist heat—such as a washcloth soaked in warm water and wrung out—for the following 2 or 3 days. Relax after surgery. Physical activity may increase bleeding. Eat soft foods, such as gelatin, pudding, or a thin soup. Gradually add solid foods to your diet as healing progresses. Do not use a straw for the first few days. Sucking on a straw can loosen the blood clot and delay healing. After the first day, gently rinse your mouth with warm salt water several times a day to reduce swelling and relieve pain. You can make your own salt water by mixing 1 tsp (5 g) of salt in a medium-sized glass [8 fl oz (240 mL)] of warm water. Do not smoke for at least 24 hours after your surgery. The sucking motion can loosen the clot and delay healing. Also, smoking decreases the blood supply and can bring germs and contaminants to the surgery area. Avoid rubbing the area with your tongue or touching it with your fingers. Continue to brush your teeth and tongue carefully. Your dentist will remove the stitches after a few days, if needed.
Just be lucky that you will be asleep, when I had teeth out I was still awake and had to have injections in the mouth to numb the gums.
My dentist let the novocaine wear off cause he ran to do fillings But tugging, that's a load of crap. it hurts tbh. Anything on your lower jaw is easily prone to dry socket which hurts also. Just seriously follow that paper they'll give you and you'll heal in no time. Good luck getting them pulled though ?
If you're awake you can feel it splinter on your tongue and you're thinking to yourself this should hurt. It hurts afterwards though.
My papa is an Orthodontist (dentist whos specialized in Cosmetic, Wire, Bracket and tooth implan). He actually can handle my wisdom tooth but then last year he referred me to his friend the Oral Surgeon that works in his clinic. So as i remembered the pains occurred only when the needle&its anasthesy is injected into my gums, the bur is inserted into gums, and post odontectomy (after anasthesy is gone). Was only about half hour anddd my wisdom tooth finally appeared♪ฅ(˘ω˘ )ฅ My classmate removed his 4wisdom teeth at once as well, he said itsnt painful cos the Surgeon is expert in anasthesy。
I only had been numbed as my insurance didnt cover the $500 sedation fee ($300 total bill versus $800? Yes please! That's music money). I didnt feel anything besides the local shots. The worst was the shots to the roof of the mouth, they literally make you involuntarily start pouring tears like a faucet. Even my tongue and lips were numb. If awake you will hear the sounds of them pulling or sawing the tooth off- sometimes the roots are mangled so they pull it a bit, saw it off then cut the root out. If asleep you won't feel or hear anything. I have been sedated before for a different surgery and they monitor you closely especially if it's your first time. You'll be ok. Also, pudding, ice cream, applesauce= BFFs for the next 3-5 days. And lots of sleep.
Totally sucks having them pulled. Just be prepared to have a few days of doing nothing afterwards. You won't want to eat much or do anything. The pain is different for everyone. My cousin had his wisdom teeth removed and was playing golf two days later. Then again, my doctor who removed my wisdom teeth actually killed someone when they were under anesthesia in California.
Well that's reassuring? My doctor had me in and out in 30 mins, I had swelling and some stiffness for a few days, but I had 3 done at once. Start with soft foods day one, the above mentioned and Jello. Then you can move hot soft foods like mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, etc. as you eat you'll work the soreness out. Jus dont forget to 'flush' the sockets a couple times a day.
LadyD is right. The flushing makes you feel so good afterwards. The stuff that would come out those sockets though ? It was like Wow there are 1/3rd of those noodles I just ate.
