Newby Question?

  1. Some people say that if you die you are freed.
If you are alive, you can choose whether or not to die.
However when you are dead you cannot choose to be alive.
I think that life is therefore a freer state than death.
    Am I right or wrong?

  2. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  3. Death is the answer.

  4. *nods*

  5. *Disagrees totally*

  6. Depends what your situation is. A cancer patient is freed from their suffering from death.

Also depends on your religion. Take your own life in many and be trapped in a hell for eternity.

It's another question that will never be answers in concrete until we as individuals pass on. Just like "is there aliens?" "Is there a God?" "Is god a male/female/black/Hispanic/etc etc etc"

  7. Death and alive doesn't matter. What matters is what you have done when you are alive, so that people can remember you even after your death. That's how you'll become immortal.

    That's what I like & That's what I want for myself.

  8. Morbid as hell.

  9. I can't disagree with someone who hasn't attempted to answer the question.
But your point about a Cancer sufferer is quite interesting.
In terms of Saving yourself for pain to come death might just be liberating.
However many young people face depression and very serious pains of their own.
If they die there yes they may stop the pain. But their life could have taken a turn for the better and by dieing they strip themselves of all of that joy and freedom. Often it is up to whether the person is optimistic or not at that stage especially if they think there's no point of return. In that case they assume a slow and painful death.
Then there is the case that all of us will die. And if we are aware of that impending doom everyone feels due and honest pain. This pain potentially lasts until they do actually die. At which point it would have been better for them to die early.
In this final case the fanous words "it's not the destination that matters. Rather the journey to get there" speak for themselves.
And then there is, for the people who think the rest of their life is going to suck and be painful there is "don't put all of your eggs in one basket" or. "Don't put your life in the hands of a 1-off chance".

  10. I fully agree saksham. I believe heaven and hell are that after you die you feel how good or bad your legacy was. And if it was bad you feel bad inside for eternity. And if your influence was good. You feel good inside for eternity.
But you can only form this legacy when you're alive. :)
