  8. I used to self injure so this thread actually pleases me. It is true though self injury is not always the best way but it is the easiest way to cope with feelings of distress. After I turned 18 I went to a treatment center where I met people like me. Both male and female. The youngest being a 13 year old boy. We all had our reasons why we would self harm. Whether it be to escape this harsh reality they live in. Whether it be to come to terms with their life. As we told each other our stories we found peace in one another. We all found in about a year that self harm was not the best way and changed for the better. Now my way to cope with my feelings are diary logs and spending time alone. Whether it be playing video games alone or watching movies. I find a peace of mind. Now I volunteer at that treatment center to help others get over self harm. It is a good cause and a lot of times it helps to just sit there and try to understand rather than assuming and judging.

  10. But if I write on my skin I can get ink/lead poisoning :?

  11. As a former cutter it's not that simple. You have to remove your triggers and get the help you need to make said triggers not cause you to want to self harm.

Self harm is an addiction. Just like heroin. Cutting causing endorphins to release in order to full your physical pain, and some even see bleeding as their troubles leavin their body.

Unless you understand these issues personally, or mental health in general. I think you should not be an ass and just leave the thread.

  14. How dare you say self harm means you have nothing to be ashamed of. You should feel nothing but more shame, harming your own beautiful body that your parents gave to you. THERE ARE THINGS CALLED FREE HOTLINES. Yes, free. There is always help, but you take the steps to hurting your own self, which in the end helps nobody.

Also, lots of self harming IS attention seeking. Are you kidding me? Check tumblr, your number one source for pictures of little white girls with cuts and users that use these photos to cry out for love. And it doesn't help because all you're gonna get on tumblr is "Boo-hoo, I'm sorry you're in so much pain that you take it out on your own personal self instead of seeking help".

Here's a step to stop self harming: Straight jacket and padded cell. You are a danger to society because you are a part of society. And you, being your sad little self is causing harm and you're obviously not afraid to show it. (Majority seen) So, even on the website you love posting your cuts to, there is a FREE COUNSELING PREVENTION PAGE.

If you can't help yourself, you're an idiot. You have the ability to move a blade across your own perfect skin. That means you have the ability throw all your emo crap away, and use the blades correctly. It's called taking responsibility.

Another thing, just because you're depressed, doesn't mean you're stupid in the head. You're stupid in the head when you hurt your perfect body, but you have the ability to realize that someone else in the world has it three hundred times harder than you, yet they wake up every day and deal with life like a human being. That's life. Be grateful and be honest with yourself.

    Rant over.

    Take responsibility.

  15. Actually webby, self injury hotlines are not free unless you are suicidal and even then they're few and far between.

But yes I agree with the taking responsibility part, but nothing else of your post.

  16. "You guys are idiots. The sooner you realize that, the better. Then, you can look at that warm cushy bed you're sitting on, that roof above your head and realize the roof is at a decent temperature, that you have food in your ungrateful belly, that you can take a shower and goddamn time you want, that you have free (bleep) education, that you live in a country where you don't have to worship some dictator every day, that you have two working legs and two working arms and not dying of cancer or some other horrible disease, that you have so many opportunities that people would literally kill for..."

  19. Webby you are the wrong one. Those who really self harm don't show it to the world often. If our bodies are so perfect then why is it that society treats people with depression like it's nothing. Imagine having been in a car crash. You are physically injured. Someone comes up like "Do you really need help? Can't you just get yourself out?" Well that's what society does to those with depression. Stuff like "oh it's a phase talk it out and you will be fine." Or "Do you need medication? Can't you help yourself?". All those people on social media belittle what is self harm. Society sees that and generalizes it. Well you know what society is wrong. Getting bullied in school I felt worthless. My body and everything I am was worthless. So what does self harm even matter when society says your mental state is nothing and your body is worthless.
