Firearms carried in University??:

  1. So what do yall think about firearms in general and firearms carried in Universities for "protection"?

Well only reason I bring this up is because a law has passed that still needs a signature but are proceeding in allowing university faculty, staff, and students to carry firearms in campus ground for protection at my university ..

I dont mind people having firearms but i think having them at universities is just crossing the line ...what does that say about the security at school? What do u think ? U disagree or agree why or why not ? Thanks for reading

  2. I dont support firearms at univ. A person who has no lessons in gunfiring, has a chance that he'll miss and shoot someone else

  3. Mm. What if someone is having a bad day and just the slight bit pisses him off and he shoots a random person?

  4. Have you never heard of the columbine shooting?

  5. It's probably for people who have their CCW, I doubt it's for just any random person

  6. I agree with all of yall, even more surprising is that at the beginning of the spring semester a student commited suicide. Then they come up with this law like really dont they see the comsequences that can happen???

  7.
  8. Well they had mentioned that those who are able to register for a gun must be 21 of age and older and have a background check ill look more into that but even so being 21 and having a background check does not guarantee the safe use of a fire arm

  9. Hell naw they ain't getting my vote

  10. Already happened in the past.

  11. Anyone that does not agree ???if so why

  12. As far as someone just flipping out and losing it and going postal cause they're having a bad day, I don't think this law would cause that. If someone is going to do that they could easily obtain a gun elsewhere and wouldn't need this law, they'd just do it (if that makes sense, it's late, I'm tired, I tried). Which if that happens others would be armed and can handle the situation rather than waiting for who knows how long for police to show up, although many people won't feel comfortable on campus with peers walking around with guns which isn't right because everyone should be comfortable in their school setting. With guns = risk. without guns = risk.

  13. I don't know, man. I get the personal safety aspect. But, a university should already have services and protocols in place that allow students, faculty, and staff to maximize their own safety without the need to carry firearms. Not just that but there are other ways to maximize your own safety (e.g. Walking in groups, carrying pepper spray, etc.) without the use of firearms.

Worshipper is also right. There's that possibility of someone misfiring or the firearm going off accidentally.

  14. Yea but walking in groups or carrying pepper spray isn't going to be effective against someone with a gun that wants to kill, campus security isn't helpful either against that

  15. But yes misfiring or accidentally going off is definitely a possibility especially with how careless people are.

  16. I can see it being CCW carried, if they take a long training class so they know what to do and what not to do in a stressful situation .
Because when it has come to school shootings they have always had a assault Rifle "ak47s and AR15s " and unless the good guy has training there probably are going to lose.

  17. Ty for posting yall i do see what yall trying to say, hopefully this law dont pass. The youngest I seen at the uni was a 17 year old and he oldest was a 55 although im sure theres a wider range but just to point out: i mean who knows maybe those who do have a registered firegun can lend there firearm for whatever reason to another person in which that other person can cause harm or jist to play the devil advocate what if the one that is able to carry a firearm loses it for some odd reason ... I mean theres just so many risk in my opinion i dont see a benefit to it at all

  18. Excuse me if i sound ignorant but they could be possibilities right ??

  19. Nah you don't sound ignorant lol but it won't matter if someone who is able to carry a firearm or not loses it. If they're not allowed to carry and someone loses it, they can go purchase a gun from the street, or if they are licensed, from a store and come back, or if they already have one in their car they can go grab it. In this case if law passes you won't need to wait for help because people will be carrying and can take care of the threat. If the law doesn't pass you'll be pretty much helpless. But if somebody is having a bad day and just wants to go crazy and start shooting they're going to do that regardless if there is a law in place or not, your school or whoever came up with the idea for this law is just trying to figure out an effective way to quickly end something like this if it does happen. Since schools don't permit concealed carry on the premises, it's easy for people who have screws loose to target them cause they don't fear resistance until the police arrive then they end up killing themselves.

  20.  it is a tough situation though just cause idk how I would feel about people sitting in class with me with a gun on them because idk them and idk how careful they are, but if something were to happen I really wouldn't want to wait for who knows how long for the police to show up to contain the situation, by that time things will be a mess. So yea it's tough
