Problem

  1. July 16 & August 17. typo.

  2. If it's 18/19, Bernard will know it's June 18 or May 19, and he doesn't. So do explain how you came to the conclusion that it can't be May 15, May 16 or June 17 either.

  3. P.S. There is no shame in just admitting you googled it. Better than just going on trying to pretend you understand it. 

  4.
  5. I solved it and im proud of it.
the answer is fixed, hence the explanation to how the options are eliminated are fixed. no matter how I explain it, it's gonna end up looking like I rephrased texts.
you can go on and on about how I Googled it when I didn't. 

  6. @Cass if the dates were 18/19. Bernard would automatically know it's may or June, in which he's not supposed to know the month. hence why all dates for may and June are eliminated.

  7. Even if you did solve it, you also ruined it for everyone and acted pretty arrogant about it. A part of the fun is having everyone get there but you went all out and gave the answer and without a decent explanation.

You didn't even explain how their statements affected their answers which is the entire thing which is why you're getting these doubts.

  8. im truly sorry for this, I wasnt trying to be arrogant and definitely didn't mean to ruin it. it does hurt to know you've been accused for something you didn't do and you're on your own to defend yourself.

  9. See what fake math does to the world? ;_;

  10. Bae I m so proud. Although it took me time to understand.
Solve one question for me too please 
    Q. Why people can't just accept you solved own your own ?
I tried to figure answer and think that they they forgot behind answer on google there is human mind, so it must not b shocking. And also the op said its 3rd standard question if sg (something like that, I just read question )
I will say you have answered the question. You proved your ability, and now other are proving their ability . Jan you don't need to say anything any more.
    Btw the answer is solved
    I request lock

  11. You can't request a lock unless you are op or it violates tou  no one has answered exactly how just yet.

  12. ️ What he said. I know the answer but I'm not gonna ruin it for yall.

  13. Oh I ddint know that  thank you for telling. Am I going to b silenced ? ?

  14. Of course not. You're entitled to your opinion.  just saying you can't request a lock. You must have it mixed up with questions directed to mods or support.

  15. Ok can I request the thread to b on topic I.e solving the answer rather then blaming some one she ruined it ?

  16. You asked for answer, she gave answer in her own way
Som one saying she didn't gave decent reason and some one say she googled  smdh, so contradictory? I should ask op in pm the real answer then.

  17. I guess it's because she gave the answer immediately and she did come off a little arrogant but we're done with that. She has apologized and I just want this to get back on topic. ?

  18. July 16th is my answer. Here is a very long and detailed explanation I put together. OP, I thoroughly appreciate this type of thread.

Albert says I DON'T KNOW WHEN CHERYL'S BIRTHDAY IS
This is a rather obvious statement. None of the dates given has a unique month. This statement doesn't help us at all ... moving on.
Albert then says I KNOW THAT BERNARD DOES NOT KNOW TOO
This means that the month that Albert heard from Cheryl does NOT have any unique days that Bernard could have heard. In other words, Albert didn't hear May or June from Cheryl because they contain the 19th (a unique day) and the 18th (a unique day). So we can cross out all the May and June possibilities. He also communicated to Bernard that Cheryl did not tell him either May nor June. And they are both aware that Bernard now has this extra piece of information.
Now Bernard says AT FIRST I DON'T KNOW WHEN CHERYL'S BIRTHDAY IS
Once again, this is a rather obvious statement that proves that Albert was right. Cheryl didn't provide Bernard with a unique date, so we can cross out 18 and 19 as possible numbers Bernard heard. Therefore, Bernard heard one of these four numbers: 14, 15, 16, 17.
Then Bernard adds BUT I KNOW NOW
This is the most critical clue of the problem. Bernard knows from Albert's previous statement that it is NOT May NOR June. The only way Bernard now knows is if he was able to eliminate possible months matching the number that Cheryl gave him. So Bernard heard a number that exists in the set of July/August (possible birthday months) and in the set of May/June (eliminated months). That leaves us with 15, 16, and 17. The 14th is now eliminated since Bernard couldn't have figured out Chery's birthday if Cheryl gave him a number that exists in both July AND August (the months that Albert indicated are the possible ones). Also, now Albert knows that Bernard heard a number that isn't the 14th. Why? Because Albert knows that his previous statement helped Bernard eliminate May and June, which means Bernard received a unique number within the subset of numbers in July and August.
Finally, Albert says THEN I ALSO KNOW WHEN CHERYL'S BIRTHDAY IS
This indicates that it had to be July 16th. Why? Because Albert heard a month from Cheryl that when the number 14 is eliminated, he was able to figure out the exact birthday. We know it's not May or June (Albert told us that already). If Albert had heard August, eliminating the 14th would have left Albert still unsure if it's August 15th or August 17th. But because Albert heard July, eliminating the 14th, left him with one unique remaining answer: July 16th.

    TL;DR? Too bad. lol.
