This is a story I have been thinking about doing for a passion project in school. I would like your opinion on the first chapter and everything. Chapters might be slow because I have a lot on my mind currently. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Unlikely Friendship 1 A girl about the age of 9 stood in front of the entrance of the local library. The cold winter air blew the girl's mouse brown hair and fluttering her black coat which was unzipped. Other than the coat she wore a long sleeved grey shirt with a black shirt and a moon symbol on it over top with regular jeans and grey sneakers. The girl pushed her black glasses back in place and pushed open the entrance to the door. The warm air of the library felt good against her and warmed her up. She passed the librarian with a simple greeting. It was normal for her to come to the library after school. The child personally thought it was a calm place to go when you are stressed of need to get away from people and get lost in books. She took a book from a bookshelf and went to the desk to check it out. "Hello again, Ruby. What book will you check out today?" The girl named Ruby pushed the book towards the librarian as she checked it out for her. Ruby took the book and sat down and read. "Shadow, the magical being-" Ruby closed the book. She already knew everything about Shadow. The man who took away her parents. Ruby didn't know she was holding the book so right her knuckles turned white until someone nudged her. "Huh? Oh... Sorry..." She apologized and noticed some stares at her from the room. Ruby smiled sheepishly and walked to the librarian to check out the book. The librarian was used to this because it happened a lot. The reason why she always took out the book and not skimming it is because she wanted to get herself interested in stuff. It helped her try new things. Ruby walked up to the 2nd floor where nobody really went up too and walked to a bookshelf. When suddenly, a hand shot out and clamped over her mouth. "Don't scream or I will have to hurt you." Said a voice that sent shivers down her spine. Ruby was then blinded by some sort of bandana. Ruby woke up in a room resembling the library. It was dark which didn't help since she was dazed and confused at what was happening. But Ruby could make out that they were dimly lit torches instead of lights. But what stood out mostly was a table in the middle of the room with a book floating in the middle on top of it. She felt a urge to go and read the book in case it might tell where she is. "I assume you want to read that book like all the others?" Said the same voice. I turned and saw 'him.' "S-Shadow...?" I said barley in a whisper. "What's wrong? Badger caught your tongue?" He teased. Shadow wore a black tench coat and had black hair poking out every bow and then matching his eyes. "H-Hey! Offensive much?" I shot back. He simply shrugged and started to walk. Ruby instantly walked back. "Stay away from me! You killed my parents!" I yelled. "Within reasons." He deadpanned. Shadow shot out a hand and instantly a black and blue aurora surrounded me. I spun around while floating in midair and a bright light came within the room. Ruby landed on the ground and instantly noticed somthing. I had a black cloak around my shoulders with a dark blue tint to it and a few star designs every now and then with the same moon shirt, black jeans and boots. I looked over to Shadow. "What did you do to me?" Ruby asked. "See for yourself. Stretch out your hand." I did as he said and a black beam shot out and I gasped in amazement. "I gave you these powers because I knew you could handle it. It is a custom to always choose an apprentice to have and take over your spot." "So what am I supposed to do? Get thrown out or jailed for my powers? Where will I go?" I said and started to cry, dropping down to my knees. Sorrow filled Shadow's eyes and he kneeled next to me. Shadow himself didn't know why he was comforting this new sorceress. But maybe if was because he felt the same emotions before. He never knew of understood sadness before. "It's ok. You can go to a new place. With a new name and school. A new everything like nothing happened and you had these your entire life. But you need a new name." Shadow reassured Ruby. "I'm not good at names. Can you give me one instead?" Ruby asked within choked sobs. "Sure. From now on you are now Night. If you need me you know what to do." Shadow then got up and disappeared. 'Night' then got up and decided to try some new magic. I mean, why not? She stretched out her hand and yelled "Shoot!". Nothing happened and she felt stupid. She just decided to try and focus. This time a dark aurora admitted from it. "Cool..." She whispered from under her breath. 'I wonder what he meant by I know what do to if I need him. Did he mean teleporting?' Night thought. She then decided to try teleportation. If anyone found out about her powers she could teleport away so it's best to pratice now. Anyway, she wanted to get out of this place. It have her the creeps. Night thought about the forest. Then a tree. She put all her focus to it and then she felt herself falling. Night was about to yell but she already fell and hit the ground. 'That could have gone better.' Night thought while rubbing her back. Night then focused harder and teleported to the top of a tree almost falling off but catching herself. She felt free and happy with the wind blowing through her brown hair which now had a darkish tint to it. "My name is Night and I will master these powers!" She yelled to no one with her sadness completely forgotten.
I really like this, although the title should be "An Unlikely Friendship". .-. Sorry, I'm a bit of a grammar nazi sometimes...
