ALERT

  1. Hello :)

I have recently done some research on the ALERT program. My oldest son is 9, as of last year he became of age to join ALERT. Tbh I'm not sure if I should send him there for a summer or not. He is my baby and it's kinda scary ya know?

Anyway my question is have you guys heard of ALERT? If you have what's your opinions on this program?

Sorry to ramble, I've been having this battle in my head and heart for about a year and I need advice. I'm in a new town and don't know anyone and don't care to speak to my family about it as most are atheist.

All opinions are welcomed. Thanks in advance

  2. What is this alert you speak of?

  3. ALERT is a Christian based camp. They teach boys to be men and follow God. I've heard from people that it basically teaches your boys to be submissive to his parents until marriage, also it teaches "doomsday" stuff. Idk a better way to write that out.

  4. Umm sounds like a bootcamp and thats not Christianity so no i dont like this program 

  5. It kinda is a bootcamp

  6. This sounds like a good path to pick up the ol crack pipe

  7. Happy birthday

  8. Sorry Wrong thread bye.

  9. Sounds like brainwash. Not my cup of tea. Your children are spoon fed this crap so they don't have ability to choose whether they want to do this or not.

  10. I don't think I have to worry about my 9 year old picking up any kind of pipe...

my son is the one who came to me with the program. He has a friend from school who visited this camp. I'm concerned and not sure of what to do. He seems to really want to go but idk :(

  11. I wouldnt send him as well. I dont trust it.

  12. thanks john I was kinda thinking the same when I read some comments from other parents. Of course they praise this program but I take it as brainwash to kinda

  13. It's probably a load of shit that gives children the placebo effect thinking they actually got closer to "God". Teach boys to be men and follow God? Sorry, but isn't it up to the father to raise his boy to be a man? Or if the child's father isn't around, then up to the mother or another family member to do so? And also, shouldn't your belief in religion be based off of how you feel, not what you were taught?

  14. Children from the day they are born have religion forced upon them. I've grown up in a Christian family myself, but no i do not believe in the concept of God. I respect everyone and their beliefs though because I would want the same kind of respect. Personally speaking, because I've only just turned 17 a few months ago, its very difficult for kids who are raised a certain way, under a certain religion to come out and tell their families "No, I actually don't believe in this/that." I'd compare it to telling your families that you are gay/lesbian etc, but I wouldn't know what that is like.

  15. You guys are raising questions I haven't thought of myself yet. Thank you all. I'll definitely do more research with some of the things you guys have said on my mind.

  16. They'll probably hate it and rebel against you. Let them choose. Sign him up for football. He'll be too tired to cause any trouble.

  17. kitty I agree 100% I was raised in a church. As I got older I stopped going and really wasn't sure what religion I was or if I was even a Christian. My oldest two children went to church with my son's friend and they enjoyed it. Of course me being a mom I had to check the church out after they went and I enjoyed it. My kids are the ones who got us back into church, my kids believe more than I do tbh. My oldest son is asking to be baptized on his own. Which I haven't said yes or no to. This is the path my children have taken on their own. Yes I can day no bc I'm a mom and that's my right (bc I said no is my favorite line) but I can't see myself not allowing them to go to church no matter what I believe. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking that way. Because my son has been so fourth coming with his faith and where he wants his life to go, I try to consider what he says when it comes to bible camps, church retriets, and whatnot. Sorry for spelling and Grammer errors I'm driving and it's hard to write and drive

  18. There are types of camps out there that are more about teaching survival skills and fishing etc. Maybe sign him up for boy scouts or search online for camps for kids in ur area. Most likely ur son wants to go only because his friend is.

  19. NEVER DRIVE AND BE ON YOUR PHONE! IT TAKES LESS THAN A SECOND FOR A CAR CRASH TO HAPPEN.
    PIMD CAN WAIT.
