Alright.. What are your thoughts on him wanting to legalize 11 million (or more) illegal aliens who have broken the law getting here and are now free to do whatever the hell they want. Now obama is saying "eh, they broke the rules? Let's give them citizenships!"
I think that Obama takes a lot of blame for circumstances out of his control, economically and socially speaking. He's done some things, some good and bad, and said many more. But that's true for every president. I believe that the best has potentially yet to come. The last two years of a second term are when all kinds of crazy things happen. The biggest problem with that, though, is that the preexisting gridlock will most likely intensify after the midterm election results. Should be interesting to watch. His speech post-election results was very cautious in its wording. On the surface he seems open to working with Republicans, however his word choice would lead me to believe otherwise. Some things he said were very pointed.
You can't tell weather a president is bad or good until the next generation comes. Look at Abraham Lincoln for example. I bet a lot of people thought he was the worst president in his time. Now our generation thinks he is an amazing president for abolishing slavery in the south. It's not your time to call a president from your generation good or bad. It's your sons or daughters that will make that decision.
What's their reason for getting coming here? Most of em are here for jobs. Any jobs available that could help support their family. Jobs that Americans are too ignorant to have because oh, we're too good to be landscaping, working in the fields, cleaning toilets. if Obama decided not to give citizenship to these immigrants, our economy, society, attitudes, pride would probably be even worse.
Matt the U.S was basically built with "illegal aliens" the first Americans weren't even born on U.S Soil. They came from England. Our country was made and built by immigrants. Trace your roots back far enough and you will see.
There's a difference between legal and illegal. We let 11 million break the law, telling them "hey, we don't care what you do, here's a citizenship" and they'll run wild committing crimes and killing innocent people.
Who says that they will commit crimes. Most people that leave illegally are trying to make a better life for oneself and their family
Whats the difference between some who has 3-4 papers and someone who doesn't? Illegal or not they are people? Whats your plan matt? Send them back to the countries where they have to fear for their lives everyday or don't stand to ever get above the poverty line?
Most of the immigrants that come here come for work and better opportunities, same reason why your family came to the U.S generations ago. Immigrants don't get a "free" to do everything pass. If anything they are more cautious then us citizens.
You sound like you've been spoon-fed somebody's biased opinion. Immigrants, legal or otherwise, often come to the States to escape the poor conditions they're in. Believers of the great "American Dream." They're trying to make things better for themselves, not cause a myriad of problems. Interesting enough, sociology teaches that people join gangs in search of the same things everybody else wants- Wealth power and prestige. They just aren't presented with the same legitimate means to achieve it, however within those illegitimate means still exists a hierarchy where the lowest members work hard with the belief that they can make things better for themselves.
