My Thanksgiving is spent at my mother's house with my hubby and kids, my siblings (anywhere from 4-5 of them), some grandparents and a few close family friends. My mother, step-father, sister and I spend the morning cooking together. Our meals usually consist of antipasto, salad with sweet balsamic vinegar dressing, Italian bread, lasagna, candied carrots and yams, mashed sweet potato, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and of course, Turkey (cooked upside down for the juiciest results). Dessert includes cookies, Italian pastries like cannolis, zeppoles and wandies, pumpkin pie, apple pie, cherry cheesecake and pumpkin cheesecake. We drink eggnog (spiked for us adults), bottles of wine, coffee, soda and champagne. Eating usually lasts from about 1pm until about 8, with different courses and many breaks in between. The kids play together and the adults talk, play music, watch family videos (we aren't into sports so no Football for us). We each say something we're thankful for before we begin eating, even the kids. What do you do for Thanksgiving? What's your favorite thing to gobble up? What are you most thankful for this year?
I didn't insult or made fun of anyone Actually I find thanksgiving and Columbus Day kinda controversial and at the same time respectful toward some people, and bad for others (natives American)
Thanksgiving is not disrespectful to anyone. Columbus Day I agree. But the idea behind Thanksgiving is just fine. The actual events around it were however abhorrent and contrary to Thanksgiving's theme. Columbus Day is just celebrating an asshole
I know, was just kidding. But yeah, thinking about it earlier when I was making this thread I saw a lot of memes regarding that issue. Well, I'm part Native American and I still celebrate Thanksgiving. Can't stay mad at all the people who took my land forever. I don"t really think anyone actually "celebrates" Columbus day anyway.
