Traditions

I am Vice. I am a Canadian. But I'm Native American. And I want to share my cultures beliefs. Hopefully someone will be interested and learn something. Hopefully someone will share their culture and I'll learn something.

I don't know very much about my culture but I will try to explain to everyone how my culture works.

First off, it is traditional for someone like me to grow my hair out. Nobody is allowed to touch my hair unless I give you permission. When our hair is long enough, we braid it with three braids. One braid for the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

When we pray, we bathe ourselves in the smoke of a special type of grass called sweetgrass. This type of grass is different because its smells better and grows differently. When we pray, we call it smudging. Woman smudge differently with a type of grass called sage. When we smudge, we're cleansing or mind, body and spirit.

I don't know what Roman Catholic is. I was raised Seventh Day Adventist. .-. But anyways.

 

Yeah. I'm not exactly sure why. I was probably told awhile ago but I don't know

 

Well, my cultures belief is in God, but we call him Creator. As for the holy trinity, it would be Father (Creator), Son (mankind), Holy Spirit (Our Spirits)

 

The bible? Not really.

 

I would say that we do not honor The Virgin Mary ? we only honor the Creator and the life he gave

This is just an idea...

But....

I could stick with my culture. Lol
