Or I could've interpreted in this way: "We (as in Americans) didn't shut down air travel, just travel to africa" I thought u were an American stating something u thought was true which wasn't (in America)
Honestly if the man was honest the first time that he came from Liberia to the US, it wouldn't have gone as far.
Which is one of the reasons why they're not shutting down air travel to/from west Africa. The people carrying the virus are usually a little smarter than simply travelling direct. But by all means, blame Obama for that guy's dishonesty lol.
I just skimmed through the comments on this thread so I apologise in advanced if I'm repeating some of them.First, Ebola is not new. There are several viruses that cause Viral Haemoerhagic Fevers (VHF).This virus besides the Marburg virus cause the most severe forms of VHF. In my professional perspective, we treat these pathogens as Category 4 which represent high individual and community risk because they can cause serious human or animal disease. They are highly risky because they can be readily transmitted from one individual to another, direcrly or indirectly and effective treatment and preventive measures like vaccines are not usually available. In the lab, we wear specialised personal protective equipments (PPE) before we can even handle this type of specimens. Yes, we treat all biolpgical samples potentially infectious but we treat viruses like these with very high caution.Anyway, all the kerfuffle about Ebola is not intended to scare monger but to merely spread awareness on how to prevent outbreaks. The routes of transmission makes it highly dangerous e.g. direct skin, eye or mucosal membrane, ingestion or by contaminated hand to mouth exposure. In the laboratory, aerosols and droplets can be created simply by opening the infected sample tubes which are invisible to the eye. A nurse, doctor or any health worker in contact with an infected person may not realised that they are infected and contaminate others unknowingly. That's a potential cause for epidemic.
