It is ridiculous how America has reacted to Ebola so far. They haven't issued a travel ban yet, unlike 6 countries in Africa that have seen this problem before. England and France already have a travel ban instituted. The head of the CDC is a failure. He has made minimal changes. They pushed to do airport temperature screenings in the hot-zones from Africa and in the US. The screenings still would have allowed the Ebola patient Duncan into the US under those screenings The infected Africans aren't stupid, as there are reports saying they are using Tylenol to lower their fevers so they can fly out. ?You also have the CDC allowing Duncan to stay at the Texas hospital that had no chance at dealing with this type of virus. They weren't ready or equipped, like most typical hospitals. He should have been sent to one of the few emergency centers America has (Emory or Nebraska are just two)
I don't think most people get that viruses which Ebola is, can mutate over time. As of now, it takes contact from fluids such as sweat, sneezing, sharing fluids (kiss, sharing a drink, blood), touching vomit or the person's crap to become infected. A mutation means the host changed the strain from being passed by fluidly contact to being passed by air like a cold.
Oh that's good guess people better start watching who they go and make out with you might wake up the next morning with the Ebola virus . #postponethesnogging
America thinks it is immune to ebola. ? Hello America, you have ties to Africa. People from Africa live here. When people flee Africa to get away from ebola they will come here. They're already coming here. Ebola is coming here. Good on France and England because many African natives that family in Africa live there as well. ? Ban all flights coming from Africa. Stop sending your white people over there. America isn't God, you can't cure all the world's problems and you certainly can't fight Ebola is you're freaking dead. And I agree with Mike. The hospital that was guy in wasn't prepared to treat Ebola. Their nurse got sick probably because she didn't take the proper precautions because she was t trained to treat shit like Ebola. DUH!!!! ️? I must say if they seriously wanted to save that guy, he probably would've been taken to an emergency care center. I'm not saying they wanted him to die, but things could've been done. Those scientists that came back from Africa with Ebola are still alive, why isn't the Liberian still alive? And while we all sit here making jokes and singing kumbaya, Ebola is SERIOUS threat. It starts small and then it spreads like wildfire. Africa knows this. They take Ebola seriously. Why don't we? We might not be 3rd world, but again, we're not immune to one of the deadliest viruses to date. Especially not during the biggest outbreak in history.
Mike, that drastic of a change in a virus is highly unlikely. Mutations do happen but that's a significant change to the rna of the virus which isn't that big in the first place
Add the Caribbean countries, a massive tourist destination, to the group that has instituted a travel ban on Africa as of today. Arrowette, I wouldn't mind the US dropping supplies by plane into Africa. They could use military planes like we have done in other countries to air-drop them supplies they may need. We surely don't need everyday citizens from the US flying to and from Africa and back. We have 150 Africans from the hotspot outbreak countries flying to the US daily I also couldn't believe the CDC would say the Texas hospital could treat Duncan, then days later find out some nurses didn't tape their gloves and wore medical tape around their neck as a protection. That's sad?
FormerlyFHD, there was a 1989 Veterinary Medicine Division team at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases that found Ebola could be spread airborne in primates. I understand primates and humans have different DNA. I'm pretty sure primates share the closet DNA to humans that an animal can. Many nations test products, medications, vaccines, and experiments on primates before they will use it for humans. It might be just a primate thing, but I don't want to find out
I'm not saying it's not going to happen I'm just saying it's highly unlikely. The amount of hysteria that's being created is not for the general populations benefit
Tha conditions in africa are crappy thats why people are dying over there. The usa isnt really doing anything against it cos its like a rice grain in a rice bag, when shit hits the fan (if it happens) we'll do something. Theres been worse outbreaks like the black death or whatever it killed like 70-80 million people world-wide i think and that was wayyy back when there was around like 500 million people in the world?
Id like to make it clear that not ALL of Africa deals with this crap, and there are parts of Africa that are just as normal as anywhere else... So I don't think all flights to and from Africa should be banned... I say just ban flights to and from places in Africa that we know would be infected...
