If someone reads online that the CIA backs ISIS it must be true and mainstream media won't cover it. The CIA backed the mujahadeen which splintered into al qaidda (sic for bypassing the filters) who then kicked the splinter group ISIS for their violence. As such, people now say that America is financing Isis as we also bomb them to support Iraqi military.

It's true that we wouldn't care as much if oil wasn't involved. It's also true that there are many other countries, including our own, that need support. We funded Saddam in his fight against Iran too. That backfired on us big time. In fact, the only good thing I can say about America today is that we don't tolerate persecution of religion. Well that, and we allow women to go to school and vote and we don't force people to practice one religion.

Actually I was in bagdad in 03-04 then 06-07, and orgun in 2010-11. I'm pretty sure what ISIS is currently instituting now is not freedom of religion. 428 killed for not closing their business during prayer doesn't sone like freedom.

I don't care to tell anyone what to do, I just hope I never have to go back again.

I don't holiday in the middle east, my trips to Iraq and Afghanistan were not my choice. As I posted before I would prefer the american and NATO forces stay out and let Isis and iraqi forces kill each other.

It is a tad ironic that you bring up the killing of one American as justification. 128 DOJ personnel on that one case because he was black and Muslim. Another example of the US government spending money it shouldn't waste. $5 trillion in debt and we keep sending aide to other countries. Such a waste...

I had thought I showed respect. I didn't go to Iraq because of the great food and weather, I went because it was my job. Much the same way that the Iraqi army didn't go to Kuwait to get a better view of the beaches.

Weapons were supplied by America to both Iran and Iraq in that war.

 

Point is, nearly all their equipment and armament came from Russia, but I'm sure some website will say the US bought it for them.
