  1. ? my bad, Redzy!!

And yeah Caspy, Marlow was a mean something something, too 

  2. I thought Obama was bad

  3. Uhm I think, its all bout your own perception.
If you'll gonna let The power control you or not. if you're going to let anybody to control you or not.

Or in the experiment, we all know what prisoners do. And what the guards meant to do.

Maybe, because those people included in the experiment knows how a prisoner should act and how a guard should act. Idk just saying.lol

Plus when you feel you're a superior it has the tendencies for you to feel good. Because you know youre above them.

Im studying psychology too. 4th year college. Lololol  JS.

  4.  I agree with you, there have been many studies on power and obedience. It's definitely a huge factor in why both sides of the experiment acted the way they did. Not only in a controlled experimental setting either, but in life as well..

  5. Damn, i'm guessing they knew it was all pretend and only an experiment?.the results though  awesome yet cruel

  6. i'm studying psychology to, 3rd year of social sciences. These ecperiments fasinate me, i've not learned about this rxperiment before though ?

  7. Yeah, Panda, they had to give consent, and were paid to participate.  Still scary how seriously they took the roles after such a short period of time though 

  8. Morning read
Ahlie i find this to be crazy interesting ??but I'm Stanford people may be a bit crazy is ya ask me

  9. That was very interesting to read?, horrible to know too?. I could never see myself doing something like that even if it was expected of me.

  10. In studied the the milgram experiment, which is sort of similar to this, although no real torture was done.
I'd like to see you do a thread on the candid camera elevator experiment (I think that's what it's called) and the carldberg social experiment, those are my favourites

  11. Zimbardos whole study was immensely flawed, he didn't "let himself get drawn into it". He placed himself as main guard and encouraged the "guards" to do more and more sadistic things to the prisoners.

While interesting anything concluded from that study is moot.

  12. Good thread, but his study was extremely flawed.

  13. Also, some of the guards, despite being pressured by the "head guard" treated their inmates kindly and even helped them out of situations with other guards.

I hate this study because it doesn't show anything about positions of power it just shows the main person in a position of power aka the guy who ran the experiment was more screwed up then most.

  14. Very interesting. Without being in the situation, I don't know for sure what I'd do. I'd like to assume I wouldn't, but one never knows...

  15.  of course there are many details I've omitted, Jo.. To cover the whole experiment, including Zimbardo's motives and actions, and the details of each participants' actions, would've taken a lot of work.

 this was just an overview, and I'm sure anyone who was really interested could look up the study themselves 

  16. True, Papi, I don't think anyone can know for sure how they'd respond. I think we'd all like to believe we wouldn't be capable of torturing others, but these guys were just normal students..
