Alright, I find this annoying. A minute or so ago I was about to respond to an interesting thread, but when I went to hit post it was locked. Reason: It was an old thread that was bumped. Ok, that would make sense if it was a thread that had run it's course. This thread died on page one, but people were starting to comment now. Mods, why is that not ok? Why is it not ok to bump an old thread if I have something that contributes to the topic? Would you rather I make the exact same thread again? Every other forum works like that, why not pimd? It just doesn't make sense. I understand locking threads that are just bumped for no reason and are spam, but use a little judgment. I've seen quite a few decent threads locked like this. Anybody else annoyed by this?
It is the rules, as this is a discussion on how to interpret the rules. I guess a better way to ask this would be what is considered bumping. If somebody has a question or comment related to the original topic, is it still considered just a bump. The rule would be to prevent spam, but not all cases are spam.
Meh, I like looking at old threads so I bump the ones I like anyways. ? Who really cares what anyone says?
It's called necroing. Most forums don't allow it actually, regardless of the content. They'd rather see a new thread, addressing the exact same thing than an old thread being contributed to.
I think there's a certain time frame you can bump a thread. If you're bumping threads from two years ago that are pointless, why even? Quit your bitching, OP. Get over it. Make a new thread. What may seem relevant to you, may not seem relevant to others or to the mods. Probably why they locked it.
Actually, more often than not old forum threads that get bumped get locked with a request to make a new thread. Lol.
