Well hello there!! And how are you this fine day? Doing well, I hope.. I’m supposed to be writing an assignment on two-way between subjects ANOVAs, which are just some fancy sounding statistical tests, but I’m too easily distracted.. Who cares about sums of squares and homogeneity of variance anyway? Apparently I’m not alone in my dislike of maths either So.. In the spirit of procrastination, I bring you.. *drumroll* Stuff I learned this week!! #1 – The Australian Prime Minister is an international joke Well, when I say learned, I really mean confirmed.. This is Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, who recently released the current governments budget proposal, with which he successfully alienated almost every single Australian.. Pretty impressive, right? Mr Abbott is openly homophobic, “religiously racist”, was once ordained as a Roman Catholic priest, though couldn’t live up to the expectations, and has even claimed that scientific research is useless.. He’s been criticised on numerous comedy shows all around the world! Not only that, but he was also recently involved in “The Winkgate Scandal”, details of which are not ToU appropriate.. Exactly what you want in a leader, right? Us poor Aussies!! #2 – Why you shouldn’t share make-up.. Meet Demi the Demodex! This delightful little creature lives, breeds and craps on your face! Isn’t that wonderful? These demodex, aka eyelash mites, bury themselves in your eyelash follicles, and live off your facial oils. They are photophobic, which means they stay under the surface of your skin during the day, then come out while you sleep to play all over your face.. The good news is you probably only have 1000-2000 of these critters at an one time.. that’s if you shower daily.. Next time your friend asks to borrow your mascara, show her this.. She’ll think twice.. #3 – Now one for the guys.. Researchers have recently found a correlation between, uhh, “happy man time” and decreased grey matter in the brain.. Basically, your brain is made up of two kinds of matter – white and grey.. The white matter is primarily axons and glial cells, which transmit information to and from the body and brain. Grey matter is mostly neuronal cells, which have a variety of functions, but are generally known to actually process information. You reading that sentence has sparked up your grey matter.. What does this mean? It means that dudes who frequently watch, uhh, “material not suitable for children”, have a lower density in grey matter in the area of the brain responsible for motivation.. Sooo, yeah.. The researchers who discovered this admit further studies need to be done, as they can’t say the decreased density is actually caused by too much, uhh, “self-service”, and not other factors.. And that’s what I learned this week.. Now its stuff you’ve learned this week too! If you learned something interesting this week, share below!!
?not as much as you though Mars, hell, even makeup can't help your case... I suggest plastic surgery. And I'm off to sleep xD nights.
