Well then...

  1. Something I realised recently, which is pretty heady and weird and deals with the 4th dimension, so bare with me.

The most common reality check and the one I use most is the clock one. You look at a clock, note the time (say, 2:35) look away, look back, note the time again (say, 6:10) and that drastic difference will tell you you're dreaming. And, in dreams, space can be convoluted and strange. Looking at the room around you, you can estimate how many steps you'd need to take to get to the door. For me, from my chair to the door, it's about 4 steps. But in a dream, I might only need to take one step, or hell, I might just be at the door by thinking it. Proportions aren't constant in dreams and our perception of space and physical structure can be equally as weird. It might be more "solid" sometimes, but it's never perfectly constant like actual reality.

So, I think a lot of people assume it's time that doesn't work in dreams, hence why we can feel like we've only been asleep for 15 minutes when in real life 8 hours have passed. But I think it's our perception of space that fucks us. Think about it; we need spatial, 3dimensional objects to measure time, or rather, make sense of time in a way we can understand it.
If the gears in a clock are a different size, the hands move madly.
The the grains of sand in an hourglass are drastically different sizes, the flow of sand won't be constant.
If the crystal in an oscillator of a digital watch can change shape, the time it reads will be all over the place.
If the mass of our sun changes, how could a sundial tell you an accurate time?

Every common method we have of telling time is based on 3dimensional, physical objects that we fixate on. In a dream, even if we're not aware of how a certain mind of clock works, it's based on 3dimensional, spatial rules.

So, to make this more off topic-related, because we can manipulate space in a lucid dream, can we also manipulate time, or experience "raw" time because space doesn't matter?

  2. Wow, I wrote a lot...

  3. I usually do this on another app, I get on :)

  4. I have no clue what to say back to this.

  5. Is that a compliment :-D

  6. Wow. This made me realize something. Nice

  7. I don't usually give compliments to those who make threads.. e.e
    But this is legit..
And I like the way you think... e.e

So, yeah, that was a compliment.

  10. oh I'm sorry. I'll do so.

  11. Nobody hasn't answered my question

  12. What question?

  13. It was in my post at the end.

  14. It's space-time (3rd dimension).
