So I grew up playing a lot of board games. Board games like Monopoly, Risk, Sorry, Scrabble, etc. You name it, I've played it. Probably. Probably not. I also grew up with Pokemon. I'll never forget the first episode of Pokemon I watched back then. Fuck you haters I've played all the generations and all the side games, etc. And I don't really know where my creativity comes from (maybe from reading so many books), but I am excellent with my imagination and hands (drawing, crafts, etc). Now, what I'm getting at (if you haven't guessed yet), is that I think that I may be able to legitimately create a board game based off Pokemon. What I've already done is put all the names of Pokemon onto little pieces of paper. Which took 8 or so hours. But only 1 of each, which means at some point, I'll have to sit 8 hours again and write more names down. I'm working on moves right now. All the moves names. Then I'll do levels, then abilities, then natures, then items, then... Everything. But I have faith that this will work. I can't exactly tell you everything that I plan to do at once, because there's so many idea's in my head for this. ? So, you'll have to just ask me very specific questions, and I'll answer them. As a general idea of what I have in mind about this is that for this game, to choose a starter, you can have any 1st evolution Pokemon such as Eevee, Absol or even Dratini. (As long as it's not a legendary or evolved pokemon*) But you can't just choose what you want exactly. What happens is that you shuffle the "deck" and draw a card. And that's your Pokemon. If unsatisfied with your choice, you can have up to 3 chances to re-draw a card. I feel this too much writing as it is right now, so I'll conclude here and answer all related questions to this thread. Pokemon* - Second deck full of 2nd evolution Pokemon that you can choose as Pokemon. Full of pre-evolved and secondary stages. Eg. Pichu, Dragonair, etc. Only get one chance for draw though
My work so far I forgot to mention that the board will probably be like Monopoly. Or Talisman. I don't know, something to do with picking up items or encountering a Pokemon.
My work.. Basically ripped up little pieces of paper with words on it. ._. I'll need to make them a little bigger since they stack ._.
I have the feels for you, Devil. If you ever get kicked out, I'll share my 5 garage, cardboard box with you.
I would play that. It sounds so fun, just please make easy instructions because I remember when I played board games with my family… we spent half an hour just reading the instruction manuals for most games.
In all seriousness though, this seems like something that you put a ton of time into and I applaud you for being dedicated to your work. Hopefully the finished product will be available for us to see in the near future! Keep up the great work!
From what I've heard, is that if this ever gets out and Hasbro or some other board game company sees it and likes the idea, it could be put on shelves and I could be rich. Something like that.
So.... No ones got questions..? It could help me further into the game and give insight once it's done. ._. Plus I could use some artist help for the board itself on what it'll look like. ._. I'll gift or even buy a cat for your club ._, or something like that.
Okay… what's the "story" of the game? What's the point of it, what's the goal? What are you aiming to do to win? Will the game be similar to the actual Pokemon video games (not character wise but what you do)? How many people do you play it with (at a party, small group of friends, etc.)?
