Because mods are wanting people to be communicate "nicer". They also hate discussions that conflict their own views of how the game should be played. Therefore, threads get locked to shut up the dissent.
We lock for many reasons. Locked threads should have reason as to why they are locked at the end before doing so.
In other words, it appears that the preferred action is to lock threads with filter bypasses than silence or report/forum ban those bypassing the censor filters. As shown in a recently locked thread.
