Del

This is a little tribute to someone who is really special and who has finally reached lcbc. I would mention this 42 carrot gold person by name but then I'd have to kill myself because it would not be a cushty thing to do and the person will call me a dipstick and scream out "Pot Pourri!!!"

For sake of writing I'm going to call this person Del.

Del should have been lcbc at least 6 months before today, but for the fact Del has always helped others first regardless to how much it meant Del would be holding themselves back. Del refuses to take any credit for anything Del has done as a club owner for the club and its members or even as an individual who has helped people purely out of generosity and kindness through totally unselfish acts. Del hates having a fuss made over them and doesn’t view anything they do as being anything out of the ordinary and this makes Del a truly amazing and generous person. Along with the generosity and kindness Del does have a very protective side and god forbid anyone should mess with Del or the members of the club, Del will be the first to back up the members and protect them and Rodders won’t be too far behind.

Del is always thinking of ways of making the club better for the members and sometimes turns to Rodders and says, "Rodney fetch the suitcase from the van", It's Del's way of saying a member needs a little help, let's make it happen and when it does happen you can hear Del saying "Lovely Jubbly". Del is always striving to make sure cc is as fun and as drama free as possible. I remember one particular incident, Uncle Albert loves to recount stories of his youth with “during the war...” But Rodders thinking he’s the clever one with his GCSE’s said “Look, every single battleship, cruiser and merchant ship he ever sailed on either got torpedoed of dive-bombed... and two of them in peace-time! I'm telling you Del, that man is a jinx!” Del would not stand for this, Del dislikes any of the members causing drama and was quick to straighten Rodders by writing, “Pm Rodders” in cc and reprimanding Rodders in pm “You are giving my arse a headache, Rodney!” Rodders soon got the message and cc once again returned to fun friendly banter.

I think the best example of how much fun cc can be is when one of the members Marlene and her husband Boycie were expecting their first child, it did come as a massive shock at first as everyone had thought Boycie was a jaffa. There was a rumour floating round that it could be Gary’s but that was soon laid to rest. Everyone in the club was really excited for them and as the day drew closer and closer the subject turned to what they would call the baby, I still remember what Trigger said, “If the baby’s a boy they’re gonna call him Rodney after Dave.”

On the flip side try to explain buying tuts as being an investment to Del and you get the response “An Investment! Menage a trois!” But an optimistic at heart, Del is forever telling Rodders “He who dares Rodney, he who dares.” Trying to get Del to talk about nerdy stuff greets you with the reply “Blahhhhhh blahhhhhh blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.” But when Del does pay attention and understands the subject at hand, you’ll be greeted by “Fromage frais!”

I could go on and on about how wonderful Del is but I would be at serious risk of a plume de ma tante from Del and Del might set Damian loose, it's a known fact Rodders is terrified of Damian so best wrap this up pretty sharpish.

In my humble opinion Del is creme de la menthe and I'm sure those who knows who Del is will totally agree with me.

A massive congratulations to Del, you are truly a cosmic, pukka person, you have made me and others so proud and I love you to bits just like everyone else who knows you. Just over a year ago Del told Rodders he needed to make his mind up, was he in or out, Rodders chose in and Rodders knows this is the best decision Rodders ever made, he would even go so far as to say it was a je suis je reste decision. For once in your life please stop being so modest and allow me to try and show you a tiny bit of appreciation for everything you have done for me and so many other people, nothing but love for you Del.

Now it's down to the Nags Head to celebrate Del's LCBC then off for a ruby, lets’ hope we don’t get struck by Gandhi’s revenge, and if you happen to bump into Trigger can someone please explain to him why he's wrong in thinking he's had the same broom for 20 years. Peace.
