Hello everyone, In case you didn't see, Obama made his fifth State of the Union speech tonight. In his speech, he made many points about helping the economy, preventing wars, and helping the citizens and the soldiers who served. However, he also made two very special points which stood out to me, personally. He said that citizens should be payed enough money to raise their family without worries of being laid off. With this, he said he would raise the minimum wages to $10.10. This is an easy number to remember, 10.10 . There are pro's and cons to this. Obama said that now, you can be able to afford getting food for you children and you can do greater things. However, tomorrow many people will be laid off because it is about a 3 dollar increase in wages. This means that if there are 10 employees working at McDonalds, they get payed $7.50 I believe. This means that now, those 10 employees will be payed all together $100 each month. 12 months times $100 adds up to a couple thousand dollars. However, Obama said that now productivity would increase so the increase of price is good, so we will have to wait to see. The other point he made is about how men and women get paid different amounts. More women than men are employed, he stated. Since it is 2014, in the 21st century, he decided to make a change. He is asking congress for men and women to be paid equally, since we are all equal in the world. This is great for the women . We now can work equal as men. I personally love the idea. Obama is making the right decisions.
Why wouldn't it be? It helps the economy and it helps get people in the middle class to the higher class. I bet if someone like cherry posted this you guys would be like "Great idea!!" ?
Politics shouldn't be brought here, although since they have a large number of people are being laid off, and hours will be cut at places paying minimum wage. So it might seem like a good thing but in reality it's not going to change much

NOT ONLY THAT BUT FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS ARE BASICALLY FOR 16-20 YEAR OLDS TO WORK, AND GET PEOPLE SKILLS AND ALL THAT SHIT, YOU WERENT MEANT TO work AT KFC FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, JUST THERE TO MAKE SOME $ AND GAIN SKILLS AND SHIT Uh that's all, pardon the caps, my caps lock broke
Yeah..... Politics causes drama... Expect the only person who could control it was CJS (I believe) it's just asking for a fight of different opinions. But that's from past experiences on threads about politics. Also... We all don't live in American 0_O" sooo yeah

Tell this then, when you raise minimum wage what does that cost the businesses? Oh more money. What do businesses like to make? Oh boy I guess that'd be money. Um okay, so having to pay 10 people $10.10 or 5 people $10.10 I think I'll go with 5. People would be laid off because the profit margin for businesses would decrease. Even if they don't lay anyone off, the prices of which their products cost would rise. Most people think "Oh I'm making more money!" I hate to break it to you, but all that "extra money" will go to paying for the now even more expensive necessities that you need to live. It won't make a difference in the poverty of this country. It'll only inflate the prices of everything and possibly drag middle class families down due to the fact their bosses won't make a raise adjustment even if they were making $8 over minimum wage before it changed. So yeah oh lord help us all. Let's just continue to cause people to be broke. Obama is an idiot.
