You earn money from jobs, parties, and farming, and buy dormmates with that money. Don't worry if you fail a few times. Everyone does occasionally.
Either attack people from the list of users that you can access by clicking the "people" button, or find an inactive player to hit repeatedly.
Find a territory, make holes, put seeds in the holes, put back dirt in the holes, water your seeds. You're now a farmer. Find someone active/inactive click battle>fight/dance
