GIF USAGE I was originally going to rant in an extremely immature way and tell you guys how much I hated the way you use gifs, but I thought I'd try to explain in a reasonable way instead. WHAT ARE GIFS? To put it simply, gifs are just several images compressed together. These images work like a flip book, and give the illusion of a moving object. The reason gifs are so popular is because they are easy to upload and are great for looping. Let's take a video and make a gif of it, then compare the file size: Sample gif: 12.5 MB, resolution of 319x319, 14 fps, 256 colors Sample video: 12.9 MB , resolution of 320x240, 15 fps, 2 channel 96kbit/s 44 kHz sound, full color. So what exactly does this mean? The gif and and video I used are roughly the same size and same quality. The difference is that the video has full color and sound. Doesn't seem too bad, right? Wrong. The gif is only the first 14 seconds, while the video is a full 5 minutes long. This means that loading that same gif in the forum is equivalent to loading the entire 5 minute video. SO, WHAT'S YOUR POINT? This becomes a problem when a wonderful forumer decides to post 7 gifs in the same post, post a single minute long gif, or even a short but higher resolution gif. This makes people wait for the entire page to load, sometimes taking a minute or two, or just flat out crashing the pimd app. Not everybody has the same internet speed as you, and many have caps. Please take this into consideration before posting every gif you can find, that's all I'm asking here. BONUS FOR THE EXTRA BORED Now this is just my opinion. Most gifs posted here are horribly irrelevant and unoriginal. Just because you can copy something and paste it here does NOT make you funny. It is just annoying. Again, please go easy on them.
I actually do agree with this because my app has crashed several times because of certain people. Now I am wary about which threads I open.
I was going to post a horribly random and long gif but I won't be bothered with photobucket so just pretend there's a frame by frame of beetlejuice happening right now.
My app crashes from them too but i think the ppl who post them one after the other aim to make ppl angry so apps crashing would only bring further joy to them

Totally agree! Sometimes it takes FIVE minutes for the page to load because of my crappy internet!? No just no?
