My sister and I have often debated over whether or not the death penalty should be implemented in Canada. I believe there are some crimes out there where the perpetrators DO deserve a lot worse then aslap on the wrist or life in prison. BUT I dont think people should be screaming for and demanding the death of a person over every little thing. Where do you guys stand on the death penalty.
I'm against the death penalty. However, I live in the state that has killed the most people since 1982. I can't judge.
I don't believe that anyone has the right to take another persons life, whatever the crime. It's human nature to learn, grow, and change ourselves as people. What right does anyone have to deny another that chance? Yes, people commit some very sick and twisted crimes.. Before automatically condemning them, ask why they might've done it.. There's the possibility they may be mentally ill, or suffered disgusting abuse themselves. I'm not saying that mental illness, or a history of abuse, justifies violet crime. I'm just saying don't be so ignorant, or quick to judge. A little bit of faith in humanity, and the possibility of redemption, should be extended to us all..
I am pretty sure I can persuade you that a man who has killed 10 children, 5 adults, and caused multiple injuries, should not live. Or a bombing who has resulted in thousands of civilian casualties. I can prove that military conflict is indeed beneficial and needed. Especially intervention and prevention. Or the shooting up of a theatre.. Bombing innocent marathon runners on their best day. Death is a true justice for some but not for all.
Death is like so fearsome to humans. Because one fate we all share equality is: Death. Young or old, rich or poor, evil or good. Death takes us all, it has no favorites over the richer class, or the good people. One thing you can trust to happen is you dying one day!! :O ?
The death penalty is just inhumane. And yes, the killing of others is as well but, and this is probably going to sound really messed up, if your loved one had been shot, and bled to death, are you going to want the criminal to get the death penalty and die instantly and painlessly? Yeah, I didn't think so. We have prisons for a reason. And if that doesn't work, let's start using Hammurabi's Laws and I'm sure the crime rates would go down significantly.
My 3 uncles were brutally beat/jumped, tortured, and killed all because the murders were druggies and thought my uncles had drugs. I'm definetly for the death penalty.
If a person has committed several murders then yes give him a death penalty. Putting someone in jail offers them opportunities to commit other crimes when they're out again. Giving them the death penalty offers families peace. Why should my uncles have died for no legit reason but these people remain alive? (2 of the five are actually in prison, the other 3 were sentenced the death penalty) "an eye for an eye" works fairly well in this situation because if someone even considers giving someone the death penalty you must have done something pretty fucked up.
"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." I'm saying life in prison, not death penalty. If you were the one that was either going to do jail time or die, I'm sure you'd rather do life in jail.
Like I previously stated, if you even did something where someone considers giving you he death penalty, then yeah, you should probably get the death penalty. Now, if your in trouble for robbing someone, then by all means enjoy your stay in jail.
What if an innocent person is given the death penalty? I'm pretty sure there has been cases about innocent people getting the death penalty. Then what? ?
I been incarcerated and I can tell you, some ppl live better in jail than in society, Those who commit crimes against children and seniors,, Those who go rob a store to feed their addiction and take the life of a hard working person....forget all that,,,, Isn't it justifiable for a cop to kill if he feel his life and others life is in danger...So death penalty is supported..... What is different,,, a cop has that right...right
You may say you don't like the death penalty but when your in a personal experience where several family members a brutally murdered you may think otherwise. None of that "lets keep them in jail" bull. Now, your next argument may be "I'd want them to stay in prison for life" but, even in prison they can sneak in phones, they can eat daily, they can go to work out and play games, watch tv. Which is why I fully support the death penalty.
