Nietzsche: 1844-1900. 1) the will to power. (Voluntarism) 2) concept of reality (related to will to power because it is in a state of chaos and flux.) 3) origins of reality. 4) superman 5) nihilism. (Nothing) 6) eternal return. The world is chaotic. It has purposes that we create. God is not in the picture. There are not ordain pictures. This is all human purpose. Nietzsche is a naturalist. "Truth is a fiction or an interpretation based on a perspective." Perspectivism. >Truth is relative to our own particular circumstances. >Truth is error without which we could not live. This error is useful. Emphasis is on will to power. At the heart of everything is will. We have evolved to where we are now. Will->intelligence Nietzsche is a pragmatist. Intelligence is subordinate to will. Reason is subordinate to willpower. Intelligence is a survival principle which allows us to live in this world. >>Will precedes intelligence<< Knowledge is a fabrication. Humans = We are not homosapiens. We are homofaber. The aim of knowledge is control. We desire to schematize to impose our own order upon this chaotic world. That is the demand of our needs. Will to power: Nietzsche pretty much forecasted how life would be today. Weather, bruh. Reality itself is in a state of coming. We try to schematize it with out intelligence. We want it to be being instead of coming. Science can be defined as the transformation of nature into concepts for the purpose of governing (controlling) nature. Process of interpretation. Process is grounded with vital (survival) needs. It is needed to understand the unintelligible world of coming. You use navigational astronomy when the earth is still. However, BOOM BITCH. IT ISN'T. However, I'm still, I know where I am so it still works. Columbus was a noob. There is no absolute truth. Truth is that sort of error without which a human being could not live but our fictions are useful. Navigational astronomy is fiction but it is useful. (Sorry astronomers. My professor said your profession is taco dip.) Nietzsche does not advocate the actions of human beings. He says humanity in general is "The herd. The crowd. The masses." Conformity: become a hipster. We want creativity. Creativity is the highest expression of the will to power. Hipster HIPSTER! The strength of the individual, not the crowd. Creativity, not conformity. Conform to be a non-conformist. The crowd stays within the realm of good and evil. Two types of morality: 1) Master morality: aristocratic, Romans, etc. conquer and subdue. "Might is right? (Lol)" 2) Slave morality: those people who have been subjected to the aristocratic morality. (Jews, Christians.. These are people who lived, for many generations, to the aristocratic classes.) They regarded Judaic tactics to level aristocratic shenanigans with God as their homeboy. Aristocrats have mastered through their aggressive instincts. Valued vital instincts like SEX. Bow chica bow wow. They use force to subdue their opponents. (Not always sexually. I missed a part of my notes making that last joke.) They're notes, you don't need to get analmad or butt-frustrated over my notes. Stay Frosty, -CJS
Master mentality is more than just a trait shown by specific types of groups, same with slave mentality. I'd need to bring out my philosophy notes from last semester for that. But all of this is familiar.
Well, not necessarily, but it was him talking from a historical perspective, just as we would with previous wars. I don't really know how to explain it.
