A beginners guide 

  1. I've noticed that some of the guides here are a little out of date. So I present to you a guide I wrote that I wish was available when I was starting out. It is by far no where near complete so if you're still confused, read the many mazing guides on here.

Essentially this game has two purpose:

    1. Make money and grow stronger
    2. Socialise and make new friends

    Making Money
    1. Doing jobs
    - on the main screen there is a 'Jobs' button
    - basically you start at the easy jobs and work your way down
    - each time you attempt a job (successful or not) you lose some intelligent and strength (int/str)
    - the lower your int/str the harder the job is to complete
    - every five minutes you gain some int/str back
    - everything is in real time, so you don't actually need to have the PIMD app open for your str/int to replenish (it just happens)
    - when you get to certain 'jobs' you get bonuses like Doc Notes and money

    2. Doing parties
    - you need to join a club if you want to participate in a party
    - again parties are similar to jobs each attempt you do at a 'party part' loses some int/str. Again it is possible you can still fail an attempt.
    - some party parts give you money, some don't give you money
    - party for completion: the club hopes to complete the party and receive what ever the prize is at the end. If a party is completed each member will receive some bonus money that is equivalent to their stats and participation in the party.
    - party to milk: this party is only there so that members can easily make some make by attempting 'party parts' that give money. Do not attempt party parts that don't give money.
    - special party prizes/items: ATA (the creators of PIMD) sometimes have special events that are embedded in the parties. Sometimes when you do certain parties you receive a special item (you know it is a special item if it says something like "1 of 5" when you click on the item)
    - when you collect all the required items, the items will combine and become a complete Show Case item.

    3. Attacking other players to make cash
This category has a four basic components

    a) attacking non-active players
    - if you battle non-active players constantly this is called 'farming'
    - again like jobs/parties and essentially everything in this game, each attack loses some int/str
    - the game will prevent you from attacking players that are too strong or too weak compared to you
    - there are four things you can do: 'Fight', 'Dance off', 'Eavesdrop' and 'Prank'
    - Fight/Dance off: are your money making tools
    - Eavesdrop: use this if you want to find out what you opponents are made out off (dorms are like)'
    - Prank: if you like to cause trouble use this

    b) attacking active players
    - some players may not appreciate you attacking them however this is a game so do what you please
    - expect some players to return any attacks you do and sometimes more fierce than what you did to them

    c) wars
    - this is a club against club fight.
    - sometimes clubs may challenge another club to battle
    - you may or may not decide to participate
    - there are different lengths of times that each war goes on for
    - only the winning club gets the winnings

    d) pwars
    - these are one sided wars where only one club attacks while the other receives all the hits
    - these are club to club negotiated so that means two clubs may decide to allow smaller members to participate in a pwar to gain some money to upgrade

    getting stronger

    1. physically
    - you can get stronger by one main method and that is to open dorms and hire dormmates
    - there is no rule that you have to follow, some people like to have their int/str even while others like to focus on one particular direction whether it be str or int.
    - some people save lots of money and do one massive upgrade
    - some like to upgrade as soon as they save enough
    - ask people for advice on this matter, asking your pupil is a good idea

    2. socially
    - there is a saying, there is strength in numbers so make friends and have connections. This will help you upgrade so much faster. Join a club, talk on campus are just some options.

    socialising and making friends
    - I am sure you are more than capable of doing this or else you shouldn't be playing this game
    - some easy ways to socialise and make friends are through joining a club, participating in forum threads and making threads. Participation in club activities, campus and even Scavenger Hunts by ATA are some easy ways.

    PIMD JARGON AND OTHER INFORMATION

    Tutor: Someone that you hire
Pupil: The person that hires you

    Thousand Combined Stats (kcs)
    - this tells you and other players how strong you are

    For example:
    Strength / Intelligence
    145,000/ 145,000

    1. remove the last three digits of both numbers and add
    2. this example would be 285 kcs

    What the fudge is LCBC?
    - LCBC traditionally stood for 'land complete, build complete' which is a borrowed term from other ATA games
    - this title is a social title given to players who have achieved maxed level
    - this will involve having 32 Tier 5 (T5) dorm mates upgraded to level 4
    - this would mean the player will have a 1,487.872 kcs.

For level 1 of each tier these are the prices:
    T1 - 1,000
    T2 - 225,000
    T3 - 16 mil
    T4 - 600 mil
    T5 - 10 bil

    volleying
    - volleying is essentially a game term that refers to two or more players hiring another player (tutor) back and forth.
    - there are two reasons for this:
    1. the person being hired gets their hire price increased
    2. the person that the tutor is hired off gains some money
    - on campus you may see people asking for DVs for example: '10B DV for the first person to post on my wall.' This is referring to a 'drop volley' as in you and another player will volley a tutor until the dedicated price is reached. Once that happens you or the other player will do the final hire after which the tutor is then 'dropped'

    role play - RP
    - RP is a social phenomena where players role play from anything as simple as mum/dad/child RP to as raunchy as XXX RP.
    - know what RP you're going into

    people you should know
    - ATA (A Thinking Ape) are the developers of the game along with other games such as:

    1. Kingdoms At War (KaW)
    2. Future Combat
    3. Party in my Dorm (PIMD)
    4. Gangs at War (GaW)
    5. The Meego

    - moderators: are volunteers that have been granted special power from the high divine to 'silence' players from the game who have breached the laws of ATA.

    Silencing
    - silencing is when you are unable to communicate to players for 24 hours because you have breached the Terms of Use (TOU) as set out by ATA.
    - on your third offence you will be silenced permanently
    - only moderators and ATA developers (PimD and PimD_Admin) can silence you
    - mods cannot un-silence you. If you really think you were silence unfairly, then email ATA at support@athinkingape.com
    - remember that this is a generic email for all ATA games so make sure you tell ATA what game you're playing and your username so then can identify you and don't forget to mention the reason why you're emailing
    - There are four main ways to get silenced:
    1. bypassing the 'bad word' filter
    2. providing personal information that can lead to you being identified e.g. phone number
    3. spamming on walls and campus can get you silenced
    4. threatening the well being of another player

On that note, I hope I've included enough information for you to start your journey here with us in the PIMD community.
    Adios amigo, until next time.

  2. I didnt like the RP part... Other than that decent..

  3. Maybe add a section on tutors?

  4. Did you ask permission? Because some people who made the previous guides are still active, and they might be offended. If their guide covers some of the same things.

  5. No offense, but you should have capitalized all the titles. Makes for a cleaner and more appealing look to me.

  6. I need to ask permission to make a guide? Oh C'mon, I acknowledged that there are awesome guides out there and there definitely are some older guides out there too. Yes, their authors could be still be active however the fact that you might need to scroll through a few hundred replies would definitely put me off from reading it and so I wrote this guide.

I actually got to excited to post this that I forgot to go back and edit my BB codes to make it easier to read.  My fault there.

And completely forgot about Tutors.  my bad.

  7. Good job ?

  8. Know what RP you're going into 

  9. Pretty cool guide :p

  10. 145+145=290 not 285…

  11. I'd just like to point out that there aren't that many relevant / popular guides.

Also, you forgot in the "Making Money" Section about volleying, the BIGGEST way to make money...

  12. Nice attempt 

Yes it needs cleaning up and editing, just email support for that sweetie.

All those bashing it, seriously get a hold of yourselves. At least he made an effort. And since when does he need permission to write a thread? it's all worded on his own so there is no reason anyone has the right to get upset. This also includes more up to date info.

    Again, it's a great start 

  13. You got to be joking me. I can't even add properly.  and I've read that so many times. Ive written version two and will update soon.

  14. Need a guide how to rp 

  15.  at this rate the stickied guides will take up whole pages not just the tops of sections.
