I worked as a paramedic and can say in the beginning of the year when insurance changes were implemented in my state ,the ambulance companies were pretty much told due to the new insurance, treatment provided and the transportation to the hospitals would only be covered 20%and the rest of the bill, the fire department would have to write off or send the rest of the bill to the patient and hope they pay out of pocket, which lead to many lay offs That's what I have seen so far from new insurance plans
Obamacare is dumb. He's creating solutions to problems that didn't even exist. If you're going to tackle healthcare, do something to lower it's base cost. The US pays so much more for the same thing everyone else gets around the world and often we get the worse service.
I find it so funny that people complain about Obamacare but rarely complain about the companies that employs them, the very company that could care less about your well-being in the first place. If these companies cared more, Obamacare might not even need to exist. The problem isn't Obamacare but all the companies that care more about profit than their employees. You get too sick to work, oh that's ok, we'll just hire the next guy. They cut hours not because they can't afford it, but because they don't want to, give them a chance to not take responsibility for something they will always take it. Small businesses I totally get, but all those other stores that have people working part time for them but rake in billions every year. Macys, McDonalds, Walmart, all those companies rarely hire full time employees and even when they do, there's all these stipulations before you can get any kind of benefits. The problem is people care more about making money than they care about people and honestly, that's the real problem.
So far, since Obamacare has been implemented, the costs of overall healthcare have gone down and price inflation has been zero for the first time since the 70s. Coverage up to the age 26 is covered for children through their parents. No more rejection for having a pre-existing condition. Expansion of Medicaid for those who are in poverty. Subsidies for those in a lower income bracket. And health exchanges that allow for cost comparison and greater competition. Businesses can now choose from a broader variety of plans rather than the typical 3-4 they have been stuck with based on region. Healthcare takes up literally 20% of the US GDP. 20 cents of every dollar we create is set aside for medical expenses. That is the mark of a monopoly. For those of you who state that the free market is the only answer to our problems, may I direct you to a history text book to research robber barons. Look up how unregulated steel, oil and banking interests controlled global markets... And how it was the US government that broke up the monopolies. Look up the break up of AT
I'm Aussie so obviously this doesn't affect me directly it might indirectly if shit hits the fan but who knows anyway my understanding of what Obama was doing was what ninja wrote i don't understand how it's a bad thing what he's doneand ex with medications the richer countries pay more so the poorer countries pay less it's humanity at work in a good way for a change I'm not sure if all the crap i just dribbled helped i just woke up so gimme a break
I just read through this whole thing and I just want to say. Obamacare for those who support it, the way guys see it is one big illusion. You see what they want you to see but in the end all it is for is power and control. Obamacare is going to suck up one sixth of the economy, we're basically handing them power and control over us. And to think he still has three years to suck up the rest of the economy, he's going to turn our country into a banana republic. Obama is a socialist, the way we're headed right now, I have no hope for this country.
The way I see it, Accidentally Me, one group in government is willing to shut down the government and threaten to default on global obligations. One group wants to have their way in spite of losing the election. One group says they're patriots while simultaneously subverting the system they claim to love.
Subverting is such a harsh word, it sounds sinister. Do you not understand that only 17% of the government is closed?
There's still an awful lot of government that's still going enough for you and everyone else. But it's obvious I can't change your mind so I won't try.
Only 17%? lol You know I'm currently furloughed, right? And there's children hungry without WIC? And there's cancer patients without treatment because the NIH is closed? And of the 83% open, a substantial portion (including the metro cop shot in the line of duty) are working without pay? Yes I mean subversion. Calculated subversion and sedition.
