I agree same with tattoos. Before I had any I felt incomplete but the more I get the more it feels right. Tattoos symbolize my life and how I live it. At first glance people might say that's a stupid tattoo, but to me it has a meaning they'll never understand.

 self expression is meaningful. Resisting self expression and forcing someone to conform to the "norm" has been proven psychologically harmful. John is obviously a perfect example of the fact stated above as he is to stuck in what he considers normal to open up his mind and embrace other cultures and what's normal to others. There's no such thing as normal, what's abnormal to you may be normal to me and so on. Everyone is unique. Nobodies brain is the same let alone their personality. So to stifle that and say that someone's a child for uniquely expressing themselves is ridiculous. Being forced to conform to a norm that stifles someone's spirit is disgusting.

As so far as your hair I think it looks awesome on you! I wouldn't be able to wear a haircut like that. I say look at some pictures online and see what you like and if your mother would approve but find something that fits you that would also work for your mother but allows you to still express yourself ?
