Beyond the Realm of Happiness -A poem about my Prom '08 I remember blinding lights and cold blunt stares. The chilly air against my bare pale back, longing and welcoming. Long gowns, gold dusts and cheery chatters. You were there, black tux and blank facade, a promise in hand. Red roses stacked beside my seat, frozen in time, freezing with me. Black coat slung on my shoulder, clinging around my shivering form. Heels in hand, dull eyes, and evident frown. You were there, staring at me, staring at my soul. Sick slow songs playing on the speaker, my voice replaying the tune. Your hand holding mine, the other around my waist. Sweet smile, glassy eyes and whispered words. He's my expectation, the prince, but you're my reality, my knight. Intoxicating laughs, overwhelming crowds and rowdy howls. They were mere backgrounds, they were mere hums. They faded, faded when you said those drowning words. You're mine, you're my first dance, you'll be my last. The excitement died down, people said goodbye. My expectation erasing all reality's word, I should have known. I was blinded by braces, blinded by the wanker, blinded by the fantasy. Beyond the realm of happiness, my knight sits, waiting and waiting.
