(Mostly to Baren) Shared Worlds is an annual creative writing and world building camp held at Wofford College in South Carolina. Students come from all over, including places like Sweden, France, and Finland to attend SW. This year is their largest camp ever with sixty-one students attending. Why is Shared Worlds so amazing? This is my first year here, but from day one I could tell you it's the people. No one is judged here. No one is going to stare you down and laugh when you do something incredibly weird. Example: My friend Jake wears a pink morph suit and lays in seductive poses in the elevator. Also, everyone here suffers from a hat fetish. If one did not bring a hat, one will have stolen, borrowed or have had a hat put on them within the first two days. What do we do? The camp is a two week long session. The first week focuses on world building and authors such as Rob VS Riddick and Holly Black come to discuss the world building process. Lectures held by the college's professors on subjects like religion, cartography and story beginnings help the process. The second week seems to focus on stories and their structures as we work on short stories taking place in our worlds. The World of Casadon Welcome to Casadon, a world made up of crystal shards, torn apart by a nuclear bomb that sent it spiraling back to a steampunk-like era and ruled by a council of women. >insert the rest of my world here< Vague Wondrous Photos This is a parody crossover drawing by Jake and I of a Molterra, which is an eyeless person who lives underground and eats corpses, and the stereotypical redneck. Re: Where have you been?! You lil ****. Welcome, and thank you guys. This was actually not set up through my school. This was started by the author Jeff Vandermeer several years ago and held at Wofford College where his wife teaches.
