Insomniac Posting

  1. I am diseased.
    I have insomnia.

    You'll go on social networking apps or media and see people all of the time be like, "I have insomnia ;(" and it is like 1AM. Shut up.

    That person doesn't even know what insomnia is. People like that will fall asleep any minute later.

    Me, on the other hand, I cannot sleep. If I do fall asleep I will wake up multiple times throughout the night.. I always tell myself, "Maybe I woke up because I had to use the bathroom? Maybe I'm thirsty? Quick snack?" No. I have insomnia. I refuse to believe it.

    It isn't that my mind is always going, or I have ADD or ADHD.. Insomnia literally keeps me awake almost every night.

    •People say, "Try exercising."
    Are you kidding me? I exercise all of the time
    •People say, "Try medicine."
    Sleeping medicine like melatonin doesn't do it for me. Even the expensive 10MG pills, or the double/triple 5MG melatonins do not work for me. My body just doesn't produce it's own melatonin.
    •People say, "Change your diet."
    That doesn't even make sense.. But I eat healthy anyway.
    •People say, "Just shut your eyes."
    Okay, I want you to shut your eyes when you are wide awake and try to fall asleep.
    •People say, "Read a book."
    I'll finish the book before I fall asleep, because then my mind has something to focus on.
    •People say, "Don't think so much at night."
    I tell them, maybe you should just stop thinking altogether if you think that is even tangible.
    •People say, "Maybe should sleep less and adjust your schedule."
    I do not have a schedule, nor can I make a schedule. When my body and mind get tired, I will let it sleep. It never gets sleep, so when it is tired, it gets it. It isn't a bad habit. It is desperation.
    •People say, "Take up a hobby."
    And do what? Stay up all night and work on my , "Hobby?"

    Literally everything I do is based off of my sleeping. I have actually gone school days without sleeping.. Even PT days. It is ridiculous. Sometimes I lack sleep so much that I get headaches, like yesterday.

    Sometimes when I am tired, I cannot fall asleep. Even when I'm tired I cannot sleep.

    People complain about insomnia all of the time..but nobody really knows what it is like to really have insomnia. So don't complain because you have to wake up in five hours. That's five hours more than I will get. Just go to bed and be thankful.

    Whatever. I made this thread because I cannot sleep.

  3. YES. FINALLY. SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS. I take a melatonin, ibuprofin, and a slumber, and still have difficult falling asleep.

  5. I use to have to take 2 expensive sleeping pills at once because my ADHD then I just recently got off the last and finally sleep on my own. I don't recommend sleeping pills because I am dealing with memory loss from the effects of being on them so long.
     
  6. I can't sleep until 11:30. Then I am out like a light
    My only problem is that my body wakes me up a lot, and I wake up 3-4 times every night
     
  7. Lol  all great points! Sounds similar to me, all tho I haven't taken any medication, and never will, it's not my thing, I have trouble sleeping. I get maybe 1-3 hours a day, sometimes I get 8, but I normally wake up 4 or 5 times with in those 8 hours. All tho I don't have insomnia, I'm close to it I guess.
     
  8. I still stay up til like 4 am then pass out and stay out for about 10 hours at a time.

  11.  fellow insomniac. This app is horrible too because it feeds my non-sleeping. There's always someone to talk to or something to do.

    I fall asleep. Wake up 2 hours later. Am up for an hour. Fall back asleep. Back awake. ? It never ends.
     
  12. I agree, so many are quick to try and say they have insomnia, yet they have no idea what it's like. I have had it since I was a baby. My grandmother used to rock me and take me on car rides to sleep from 1am to 5/6 am and I still wouldn't. A lot of my family thought I was on meth because I would be up for 4 to 5 days straight which is completely unhealthy. I have also tried pretty much everything possible, and nothing helps. I get migraines all the time to sometimes they are so severe I will black out. For my profession it does kind of help though. I do long hours, being on call and being a surgical nurse I never know when I will actually get out or how many hours I will put in. It also helps with getting to spend time with my little one, since I work long hours, I spend the rest of my time with her and just catch sleep whenever possible.
     
  13. I don't sleep when my boyfriend falls asleep first because if his voice isn't the last thing I hear I have really bad nightmares. So Captain, I shall stay up with you.

I also work long hrs.. 16 hrs (from 4pm-8am) and even longer than that.. hey im an or nurse so wat can i do.. after i get home can't sleep soooo i drink a cup of coffee and play pimd.. till i drink 5-6 cups in a span of time and not noticing that i havent slept for 24 hrs already.. lmfao how crazy is that.. :D
