Heart breaking..

  1. Man, normally I don't get emotional..
    Like, at all.
    I'm like a robot.

I was out eating breakfast with a friend this morning and I saw this guy..sitting by himself with anniversary balloons, and cards.
Nobody sat by him the entire time I was there.. He was there before I got there..and he was there when I left.

As I was walking out with my friend, I asked the man if he was okay. Bam.

    Spoiler Alert

"I have brought my wife here for our anniversary for 62 years. She passed away four months ago."

...here I am..sitting here like an idiot.
I didn't even know what to say.
I wanted to smile and tell him alright, but it shocked me. Like, I honestly wanted to cry.
I actually have not had a feeling like that since my great grandfather passed away.

We actually sat with him and talked..
Although I'm pretty sure it seemed weird to people walking in that there were cards and anniversary balloons all over the place..
And there were two young guys sitting with an old guy..

Back on topic, we asked him how long he was married, derp, 62 years. Shocker. Again I felt stupid.

We sat and talked for a good half an hour, but man.. I heart heart broken for the guy as I learned more about him. I felt so bad.

We left, and he was still sitting there.. Wow.

If I learned anything from this encounter, it would definitely be either..
    Stop asking stupid questions..
Or I need to love my family more.

I still have the swirlies in my tummy.
    Anyway..

QOTD: What was your most sentimental and meaningful encounter, and how did it affect you?

    Thanks for reading guys..
    Or thanks for not reading..

    Stay frosty,

  2. Touching story.
I read about a man who paid a florist in advance for anniversary flowers to his wife after death.

  3.  Oh hon, it's alright... You just didn't know what to say.  But that is so touching that he did that for his wife  Why do people have to die?!

  4. No, I'm okay.
I'm just feeling for the guy.
    It was just eye opening..

  5. Wow. :0

  6. That really is something!My Great-Grandfather did this every year with his wife's ashes before he died. It reminded me how much I should love my family, because, you never know what you've got until it's gone.

  7. I have never seen something like that before.. on movies yes lol but indeed it's heartbreaking

  8. My most meaningful encounter was on the bus when I was 19, I look young so I definitely looked like a high schooler to the man I offered my seat to, he had to be around 70-80 years old, the bus was packed and there was absolutely no seats left I was sitting in the front and the bus was packed with teenage kids all around me, taking up all the seats and doing whatever they do...I offered this man my seat and he started to cry..I didn't understand why he was crying so I tried to comfort him and lead him to sit in my seat, he said "no no that's okay, I lost my niece last night she was around your age she was just as sweet as you, I'm a vet and in all my years being on this planet I have never seen anyone besides her and you be as kind to strangers as you are to me, sit back down dear beauty before age." We talked the rest of that trip...apparently his niece was 15 and they had lost her to a drug overdose.

I appreciate this thread CJS thank you 

  9. Oh my..
    I'm having feels all over.
They feel like goosebumps but I'm sure they're just feels. Oh my. Wow.

  10. I love this thread. It really shows you how big of an impact we can make on the people we meet everyday and how they affect us.  So this might be heartbreaking but I think in actuality it's heartwarming ??

  14. Awwwww.... See, people? that's love..

  15. :'( that's very heart breaking but so inspiring ...values have changed so much and we meet so many people all the time we don't really care to take the time to get to get to know someone and care for someone that well...its nice to be reminded that one person could love another that much...
