First of all I think you meant 1860 because chivalry went dead way before Woodstock. Second of all any person worth having is worth waiting for, and 40 hours a week is nothing. When you love someone you make time for them because you want and need to, even if it's just to shoot a text "thinking of you" you so that gladly. Third of all this type of thinking is why you're probably 46 living in your moms basement, sleeping on the futon with questionable stains and spider man sheets, you've only had sex the once in high school with that girl at that party that was too drunk to see straight and you only got to dip in the cool aid before she leaned over and threw up on your leg. Now you work as a pizza delivery boy in hopes some hot desperate mom will yank you inside and rock your world while eating a steamy cheese pie.... not going to happen. Well i agree...just bc you dont open the door for your woman dont means that you dont love her...however its ALWAYS the little things that counts that may keep your woman happy..and opening doors and grabbing a blanket for her is one of them.

I think what both sides need to understand is Chivalry is not supposed to be something you HAVE to do. It's something a man should WANT to do in order to show respect and impress the girl he's after. That's all.
I completely agree with saying we can get our own things and open our own doors...If you need a man to do that for you, what have you been doing when you weren't in a relationship? Standing by a door waiting for the next person to open it for you? Girls your fine opening a door and getting your own blanket, you don't see boys waiting for us to open their door. Aaand that's all I have to say on the subject.
The holding door thing is out of focus. It's something either gender does out of politeness to complete strangers. yup sure we've all met the rude ppl or dolt that doesn't care about the rest of their society. So what, they are just a small percentage, and most mature, eventually.
