There Is Always A Way "NO THERE HAS TO BE A WAY! PLEASE! THERE HAS TO BE A WAY! JUST LISTEN TO ME PLEASE," her mother cried. "I'm sorry mam. He is gone." "NO," she cried out "HE IS NOT DEAD! YOU CAN'T JUST SAY HE IS DEAD WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW FOR SURE! HE IS MISSING NOT DEAD! PLEASE DON'T SAY HE IS DEAD! PLEASE! YOU HAVE TO LISTEN!" "Mam there is nothing I can do! He has been gone for FIVE years! We have to claim him dead!" "No he isn't dead. There must be another way to get time! Please! Just a little longer! He will be back! I know it!" "I'm sorry mam. There's no other way." "There is always a way," she whispered as she walked out of the police station. She knew what had happened to her son and when but she couldn't tell a soul. Not with the danger that's involved. When Claudia got home that night, she felt her stomach tighten. How will she tell Eve, her only daughter? They were so close and now... He was gone. "Eve, darling, .... They.... They.... Oh I'll just say it! They claimed him dead!" The eight year old dropped her doll on the floor and turned around slowly. Her brother was NOT dead. She knew where he was! Or did she? "HE IS NOT DEAD! THEY CAN'T DO THAT! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH," the girl screamed as she ran around the house and knocked over anything in sight. How could they do this? Why didn't they know about Luca? Why didn't they know where he was? The girl was angry and saddened of the loss of her only brother. The only one who understood her. You see, Eve was different then most girls. She didn't dream of becoming a model or becoming famous. She dreamt of non selfish reasons. She dreamt of HELPING. She had finally let the anger out of her but she soon felt something worse than being mad. Eve was sad and not once has she ever been sad and cried. Not even when her father left. She ran outside, not caring she didn't have on any shoes. She ran and ran and ran until her feet could not possibly carry her anymore. How could this happen? Why did this happen? She fell to the ground from loss of energy. She cupped her face in her hands and began to cry. She cried for her brother and her dad and her mom. She cried for the loss they felt and for once, she cried for herself. The only one who knew all of the grown up thoughts that went through her head, was said to be dead and Eve wasn't sure if this was a rumor or if it was true. Has her mother lied? Eve continued to cry in that unknown field. She felt to sad to care. There was no way to get him back. Even her mothers saying of"There is always a way," would not give her hope anymore. What Eve didn't know was that there was a boy watching her about six feet away and up a tree. He watched this girl curiously for he had never seen her before. Who does this girl think she is? This was his hideout and no girls were allowed and that was final! He jumped down the tree and walked to the girl, making little noise as possible. The girl had a head full of red hair and was barefooted to. What was wrong with this girl? He tapped her on the shoulder and crossed his arms angrily. She was not going to get in the way of his boys only hideout. Eve turned around slowly, scared of what she might see. To her surprise, it was a boy standing there. Where did he come from? "Y-yes," she sniffled while wiping off her eyes. She would not let some stranger see her cry. "Well... Urr... Umm.. I... Uhhh...," the boy was lost for words. She was crying! He had thought she was laughing! The boy felt guilty so he smiled and held out his hand"Hello. My name is Severus. Severus Williams," the boy introduced himself as. Eve looked at the black haired boy and smiled"Eve. Eve Blankshire," she said excitedly and decided to take in every feature of the boy after shaking his hand. Severus had black hair, water colored eyes, and a nose that was pointed and reminded Eve of a bird. He was quite tall as well. Severus was doing the same thing as Eve. He saw her red hair and grey eyes. She was short compared to him but he was ten years old. Her nose resembled that of a button. "Well, Eve, I was wondering to ask you why you were crying." "Severus, I will tell you in time. In time you will know." How old was this girl? She was as good with words as he was! "Excuse me for my rudeness but may I ask your age?" "I am eight," Eve stated proudly"And how about you?" "Well I am ten of course," he said offended. He would think she could tell the difference between ages! "I figured you were. You are quite tall you know!" "Yes I did know," he stated proudly"Aren't you supposed to be home?" "I could ask you the same question." "Yes well I did ask first." "Oh alright. I ran away for a little while. I needed to be alone." "Yes I do understand. Do you recognize your way from here?" "...Sadly no." "Well then follow me," Severus said and with a sweep of his arms, he walked off. He was a little to eager to get away from this girl. Eve followed Severus the best she could but he took really long strides and she could hardly take a breath from him walking away so fast. What was his rush? She went faster and faster until she was running after him. She never was a great runner and her luck was just not with her today. She fell over a rock and cried out in pain. She felt a bone snap and another fall out of place. Severus didn't even take notice to the girl. "SEVERUS! HELP! I think I broke my foot," Eve bellowed angrily and this caught Severus' attention. He turned around and looked at Eve. She was fuming. Her face was red and she looked ready to kill someone. Why was she angry? Why didn't she cry from the pain like normal girls? That moment was when Severus realized the truth. She WASN'T a normal girl. He quickly walked over and scooped her up in his arms in a swift movement before walking in the direction of his own home. That was the only place to go for now. Once they arrived, Severus put her on the couch and went to the supply closet. He began to cleanse the wound and wrapped it up in a cloth. He then picked her up once more and left before his parents could come home. They didn't need to see her. Once she had arrived her mother jumped in joy and grabbed her baby before realizing the boy was not an officer. Claudia wept over her daughter and helped her into night clothes. What had happened to Eve? "Mother, tell Severus I will meet him at the same place tomorrow." Claudia looked shocked. Her daughter made a friend? Eve made a friend? "Of course I will dear," she smiled and quickly left to go to the door. She had thought her daughters new friend was an officer! When she walked to the door, Severus was there standing quietly. Claudia quite liked this boys manners. "Hello Severus! Eve said that she will meet you tomorrow at the same place. I would also like to thank you for helping my daughter. She is quite clumsy sometimes," she laughed. "Tell her I will see her there. It was no problem Mrs. Blankshire. I was honored to help." "Please call me Claudia! It is also Ms. not Mrs. but I understand the reason for saying it but now you know." "Terribly sorry Claudia. Good day to you," and with that Severus left to go back to his own home. Both of the children were happy for a while at getting to meet someone new. Neither thought the friendship would last. Little did they know, that was just the beginning of their journey. ~~>~~>~~>~~>~~>~~> I know I wrote it differently then usual I didn't write down who's p.o.v is who's because you could tell easily and it would ruin the story by having to see the p.o.v of different people every other paragraph lol I hope you enjoy!
Eve was walking in the woods and towards her home. She had just gotten back from Severus' home. She whistled along with the birds as she walked. The birds would whistle a tune and then she would whistle back and it went on this way. Eve turned suddenly as she heard a bush being moved. There were animals out here, right? She shrugged and continued to walk but she heard the bush noise again. What animal was that? "Who's there," Eve called out clearly. Eve got no answer except for the bush being shook and the sound of stomping feet. Human feet. "Severus," she called questionably to which she was responded with a loud chuckle. "Severus if that is you, it isn't funny! Knock it off!" She heard the chuckle again and a man jumped out from the bushes. Eve screamed the loudest, most ear piercing, and terrifying scream she could manage. Maybe someone could hear her cries of help. "Calm down Eve! I'm not going to hurt you! No need to wake up the whole neighborhood!" "W-who are you," Eve shakingly asked the stranger. "It seems you don't remember me Eve." "I'm not supposed to talk to strangers," she managed to say while backing away slowly and unnoticeably. "I'm no stranger Eve! Why I am...," but he didn't get to finish for Severus burst through the trail screaming her name. "Goodbye Eve. I will see you soon," the man smiled. With those last words said, the man whispered some words and a large puff of smoke appeared behind him and he backed into it while laughing. The unknown man had dissapeared. "Oh my god Eve! Are you okay," Severus exclaimed while feeling her face and arms for any type of harm on her fragile body. When he could find none, he took a deep breath and let her go. Who was that man? "Eve, do you know that man?" "He seems to know me," Eve breathed out quietly. It couldn't be who she thought it was... could it? Severus saw the look on Eve's face and he knew that something was wrong. He had known her since he was ten and that was three years ago. "Eve, is there something bothering you?" "O-of course not," Eve whispered for if she spoke more she could burst into tears. It just couldn't be him! Not after all these years! "Eve, you know who that man is don't you?" "N-no! W-what makes you think t-that?" Severus knew Eve was lying now. She never stuttered. "Eve, who was that man?" "Oh Severus," Eve cried as she flung her arms around him and began to weep into his shoulder. Eve never cried except for that faithful day they met. What had gotten her so upset? How did she know that man? Why wasn't she telling him? "Eve, calm yourself. The wall you made for yourself fell down or did you even have a wall at all?" "Severus, please don't start this now," Eve cried out. She knew something was wrong with Severus but he tried to hide it and that just ended up with them always fighting for no reason. "Why? I mean you could have been lying to me for three years! You never even told me why you were crying that day when we met," he yelled, feeling guilty for taking out his anger on her. "I told you in time I would tell you," Eve cried out. Why didn't he understand? "HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU NEED?! IT'S BEEN THREE YEARS!" "LOOK SEVERUS, I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAS BEEN GOING ON AT HOME OR WHATEVER IS UP WITH YOU BUT I DO KNOW YOU SHOULDN'T TAKE YOUR ANGER OUT ON ME! I WOULD LIKE TO HELP BUT I CAN'T IF YOU WON'T TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG!" "WHY DO YOU THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG?! I HAVE GOOD REASONS TO YELL AT YOU!" "YEAH LIKE THE FACT I DON'T TELL YOU PERSONAL THINGS THAT I HAVEN'T EVER TOLD ANYONE BEFORE AND YOU JUST EXPECT ME TO TELL YOU BECAUSE I'M YOUR BEST FRIEND?! WHAT ABOUT YOU SEVERUS?! YOU HIDE THINGS FROM ME BUT I DON'T GET MAD AT YOU!" "I DON'T HIDE ANYTHING!" "Look I don't know what your problem is but you need to fix it and until you do, I'm not going to sit around and be a toy for you or is that what I was all along," Eve whispered as she walked away quietly and quickly. "EVE," Severus cried out as he ran after her but she had disappeared. Where did she go? Severus fell on his knees and a mud puddle just happened to be under him and how cliche was it for it to suddenly start to rain? Severus screamed and yelled at the sky and then yelled at himself. He told himself he was stupid and such an idiot. Severus ran to her house and knocked on the door. No answer. He threw rocks at the windows and still, no one came to see him. Eve walked in her house still crying. Now her tears were from Severus to. How could he do that to her? He had no right to! "Mother," she cried out. Claudia rushed in at the sound of her daughter crying. He didn't... He wouldn't... Would he? "Did he come see you to," Claudia asked quietly and Eve nodded in response. "Child, hide in the closet! I fear the worse! He is an evil man and will stop at nothing to get what he wants! No matter what happens, don't come out of that closet Eve! Do you understand?" "But mother! He will get you! He might kill you!" "Don't mind me," Claudia whispered gently and gave a small smile"I will be fine. All that matters is that you are safe." "I love you," Eve cried as she hugged her mother and kissed her cheek. "I love you to child. Now hide," Claudia yelled as she heard knocking. Eve ran to the closet and hid in the back, behind some clothes, and in a big cardboard box. The door burst open but Claudia was expecting this. She turned towards the door and frowned. "Long time no see Richard," she growled. "Tsk. Tsk. That is no way to talk to a guest Claudia." "You are no guest of mine," she snapped. "Be polite!" "Don't tell me what to do!" "Whatever. Where is the girl?" "Safe." "Claudia I'm not afraid to kill you!" "I'm not afraid to be killed by you," she retorted. "Fine. If that's how it is going to be then that is how it will be," Richard growled and picked up the knife out of his pocket but Claudia stood her ground. She was not going to give up her daughter for her own selfish life. Eve cried silently as her mother screamed in pain and a loud 'thump' echoed throughout the house as her body fell limp to the ground. "I love you Eve," she heard her mother say in her last dying breath. "I love you to mother," she whispered so quietly not even a mouse would hear it. "EVE DARLING! DADDY IS HOME! I WILL BE BACK DARLING! NOT NOW BUT SOON," Richard yelled evilly before disappearing into a cloud of smoke. Eve jumped out of the closet and ran to her mother. Blood was pouring out of her still and her eyes had lost all life. She picked up her mothers body and held it close to her and began to cry. How could this happen? Why did this happen? Why her? Why her mother? Why? Eve knew someone was trying to get into her home but she didn't care. Her father could kill her to if he wanted. She just didn't care. Severus burst through the door and saw Eve holding her mothers body and crying. He saw blood coming from Claudia. He saw the knife. He saw the smoke that had yet to disappear. He ran to Eve and held her close. He knew that her mother had been murdered by that man. He should have never yelled at her. She knew who the man was and she probably knew this would happen. Severus was just plain stupid to compare his problems to hers. She had way more problems than he. "Come on Eve. We will call the police and then I'll take you to my home. My parents might be in a good mood and let you stay until you are old enough to live on your own. It's okay. I won't leave you alone. I promise," and that was a promise he intended to keep.
"EVE, SEVERUS! GET DOWN HERE AND EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THIS ... THING IS IN MY HOME," screeched Mrs. Williams from downstairs. "Yes ma'am," the two replied immediately and walked towards the sound of her voice. "What is it Mrs. Williams," Eve asked politely through gritted teeth. She hated that woman. "Get that AWFUL creature away from me," she screeched dramatically. Eve rolled her eyes and picked up the rat and brought it outside. "Here you go little one," she whispered while taking out a bread crumb from her pocket"I suggest you go and don't come back. They may hurt you," she whispered as she handed the rat the food and watched it run away. She hurried back into the house and shut the door quietly behind her. She flinched as she heard footsteps coming closer and closer. "Eve," Severus whispered. "Thank goodness it's you," Eve whispered"Have they gone to the meeting yet?" "No. They are upstairs getting ready and they say they want a sandwich or two along with some...," but Severus didn't get to finish his sentence for his mother and older sister began to yell at them. "WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING," Severus' mother screeched. She did anything possible to keep them apart. She didn't want her son to run off with someone as poor as that girl and that was final. "Talking," Eve answered quietly. "Well stop 'talking' and make mine and Rose's sandwiches! Two each and a glass of wine!" "Yes ma'am," they answered and began to make the sandwiches. "Why do we have to be servants? I mean it's not like we ASKED to live here," Eve complained. "Well... You kinda did. I didn't but you did," Severus joked. Eve laughed and bumped Severus with her hip because her hands were full and she couldn't slap him across the arm. "Oh you be quiet! I actually expected this by the way you were acting back then!" "I was quite foolish," Severus agreed with a laugh. "Well it's all behind us now! That was four years ago! I'm going to miss you next year when you move off!" "I'm not moving until you can," Severus said sternly. "Really? Severus! Thank...," Eve was interrupted by a very mad Rose. "YOU TWO WON'T GO ANYWHERE ANYTIME SOON! DO YOU HEAR ME," Rose screamed. "Well you did yell in our ears," Eve murmured. "Kinda hard not to hear," Severus agreed quietly. "MOTHER," Rose screamed as she began one of her tantrums. "What is it dear," Linda asked as she walked in the kitchen. What did those brats do this time? "THEY BACK TALKED ME! IT WAS DREADFUL! YOU SHOULD HAVE HEARD THE AWFUL AND NEGATIVE ATTITUDES THEY GAVE OUT!" "THEY DID WHAT?! YOU TWO SHOULD LEARN TO RESPECT YOUR ELDERS," Linda screamed as she picked up Eve and Severus by the neck and threw them against the wall. She then dragged Eve to her bedroom, a hole in the wall, and kicked her while they walked. When they arrived to Eve's room, she pushed her against the wall and smacked her several times before pushing her in and putting wood over the entrance. "No food for two days," Linda screamed as she went back down to drag Severus up. When Severus got tossed in his room, another hole in the wall that was beside Eve, she gave him a talk. "You listen to me you, do not talk to each other like that! You two will not run away together, got it?!" "And what if we do," Severus countered back. "YOU WILL NOT BE TOGETHER," she screamed "IT IS FORBIDDEN!" "Why is it forbidden," Severus asked but he already knew the answer. "Because she is poor, you have money! That is why! You aren't allowed to run away and fall in love Severus! It is forbidden!" "No one ever said anything about falling in love. Just running away together." "Listen here boy, you can't expect to LIVE with a girl and not fall in love! It's impossible!" "Nothing's impossible." Linda screamed in frustration and ran to her daughter so they could leave. She was hoping they would meet a few wealthy men that Rose could wed to. "Eve, I'm coming to your room," Severus announced as he walked through the walls passageways and to her room. They always got around like this and no one ever knew. "Eve, what did she do to you?" "Same as usual. Nothing big," Eve said quietly. The truth is, she had heard Linda speaking and felt saddened. Would Linda find a way to stop then from moving out? Severus could read Eve like a book and put an arm around her shoulders before saying"Don't worry Eve! That b**** isn't going to stop us from escaping this h*** hole!" "Severus," Eve scolded"Language!" "What about my language," he smirked "Nothing is wrong with my words." "Maybe the fact that you said words that I do NOT appreciate coming form your mouth?" "And which words would that be," Severus continue while smiling. "SEVERUS!" "EVE," he copied. "Sometimes, I wonder how I have ever put up with you!" "I could be a lot worse," he reasoned "I could be yelling in your ears for candy while you scream back that you have none and that would lead to me throwing things at you." "You would not do that though... Would you?" "Maybe!" "I don't like people throwing things at me though! I mean what if I got a concussion? What if I bled? What if I murdered you afterwards? What if I died from blood loss? What if..." Severus clamped his hand over Eve's mouth and said loudly "I GET IT! THERE IS A LOT OF WHAT IF'S! GAH EVE!" "You sir, are a butt!" "That the best you can do," Severus snickered "No bad words? Or should I call them 'words that are not appreciated coming out from Severus' mouth'?" "Oh shut it you!" Severus laughed while Eve glared at him for making fun of her. Suddenly, a door slammed and the whole house was full of Linda and Rose's screaming about some man they met at the meeting. Eve couldn't tell if they were excited or angry. "Go Severus! They will catch you!" "So what if they do?" "SEVERUS," she hissed quietly. Severus sighed"'Night Eve," and left the room, wondering if they would even live to escape. "Goodnight Severus," Eve whispered as he left. Will this ever end?
"WAKE UP SEVERUS," Eve hissed in his ears. He just HAD to wake up on her birthday! "Snooze," he mumbled as he hit her head. "I am most certainly NOT a clock," Eve growled at him. If he wouldn't wake up himself then she would make him wake up. She smirked evilly as she walked to his bed, a couple blankets by the hole that was his door, and pushed him out of the hole which was slightly above the ground. She laughed as he fell on the ground and hit his head on the floor. That's what he gets for not waking up on such a special day! "Eveeee," Severus whined"Why am I supposed to be up so early? It's an off day for us! Remember? She said because of your birthday she would let us off to celebrate while she went to town to celebrate by herself or what I call her everyday tactics," Severus grumbled as he sat up and rubbed his head. "That's exactly why you ninny! It's my birthday! My EIGHTEENTH birthday! This is our chance to run away!" Severus shot up wide eyed. He completely forgot about them being able to leave. They had to pack right now! "Eve! Get your stuff and I'll get mine! We have to get ready! We have to-," Severus started but Eve cut him off. "All you have to do is get ready," she stated while rolling her eyes"We packed secretly last night remember?" "Oh yeah," he murmured as he climbed into his room and tossed his bags down for Eve to move with the others. Eve put the bags with hers upstairs and went and grabbed one of Linda's most expensive purses. She packed it full of food and drinks and then got three more purses to do the same. Eve grabbed two handfuls of jewelry and packed them in a purse along with some money she 'borrowed' from Linda's vault. Eve and Severus both had about twenty dollars in life savings a piece and that was not going to get them far was it? They were also going to stop by her old house to see what valauables were left there that her father didn't steal and if they were lucky they would find money. Severus ran down the stairs and once he saw Eve, he smiled. They were leaving this place once and for all. He was lucky his mother taught him to drive because she thought it would 'useful' of him to be their driver. He grabbed a key from one of the many cars and unlocked the car so they could set their things in. Eve struggled and groaned as she brought down suitcases from the staircase and dragged them to the car. Severus chuckled at her before setting the suitcases in the trunk quickly and left to get the rest as Eve got the bags of food. This was going to be the escape from h***. Before they left for good they walked the trail that led to Eve's old place. Eve didn't want to walk in but what choice did she have? She gently opened the door and gasped as she saw the blood from her mother still splattered around the house. Why hadn't they cleaned this up? Eve had to hold on to the doorway just to steady herself. She must do this. Eve walked over the spot her mother died as silent tears spilled her eyes. She continued throughout the house and began digging through all of the shoeboxes and closets and anything else that was in the house. The house was destroyed by the two kids but they had found some jewelry ,that Eve decided she would keep in memory of her mother, and some money. They had found at least a hundred more dollars and that would help some with how expensive things were nowadays. When they walked out Eve was still crying as Severus had an arm around her so that she didn't have to support herself. She looked ready to fall at any moment. Once they arrived back to Severus' home and Eve had dug out a map and some flashlights, they headed off for town. They wanted to make sure Linda and Rose saw them drive away in THEIR car. Eve laughed and waved as Linda and Rose walked out of the store. When they saw them, they completely dropped their bags and began running after them and yelling insults. They were heading towards a whole other state. Severus just happened to live in New York and he really didn't want to spend his days there. What if they were found? The duo decided they would head to Mississippi just so they were absolutely sure they wouldn't be found soon. They had found a small town that they would live in. They would get jobs and rent a small apartment until they were able to go their separate ways in life but still see each other. Eve would yell to go left or right or turn there not here or sometime even yell she would be a better driver than Severus as they made their way through all of the states. It took several nights of sleeping in the cramped car but they finally made it to their destination. The two cheered as they passed the sign that stated 'Welcome to Mississippi'. "Finally," Eve cried "I just can't wait to start new lives!" "I know Eve," Severus chuckled"You have told me the whole way here!" "Oh yeah. I forgot," Eve murmured, embarrassed. She was just to excited to remember anything at the moment. As soon as they found the town they decided to live in, they went off in search of jobs. It was better to go ahead and get started right? Severus bought a newspaper and they went straight to the job applications. They wanted to find a job that had at least two spots open so they wouldn't have to worry about being late. There were two spots opened at a nearby store and a little gas station that was several streets off from the apartments they were going to rent so the two decided on the store. Severus had called the apartments and already rented one with two bedrooms, one bathroom, a small living room, and an even smaller kitchen but it would do for now. They didn't need much room though because they didn't have much furniture. The room came with two beds and a couch and everything you would need in a kitchen besides food and utensils. It was everything they needed for now. Eve called the store and they set up an interview straight away and they were rushing to find it in the small town. It wasn't everyday you could get a job that quickly and they weren't going to pass up the chance. Once they arrived to the store, they hopped out of the car and practically ran to the front door. They just HAD to get the job! As the two walked in a bell went off above their heads and they felt the cool air rush over them. There was rows and rows of candy. The store must be a candy store for all the children. "Hello Sir," Eve greeted and smiled at the man who came out from the back. "Well hello! You two must be the ones that called ,yes," he asked with a smile on his lips. He looked to be in his fifties or sixties. "Yes sir," Severus answered and immediately the three went to the back. The usual questions were asked for a job and information was given about the two. It seemed one would work in the back to help do paperwork and pack and unpack things and the other would work at the counter. "I think I shall work at the counter", Eve immediately said"I think Severus may scare the poor customers." "I would not," Severus defended himself. "I know I would be scared if I walked in and saw you if I didn't already know you," Eve joked. "Well I'm offended! I don't look a bit scary!" "Oh Severus you know I'm joking," Eve said while rolling her eyes and the owner found their little quarrel quite amusing. "No I wouldn't know," Severus countered back. "Oh and why not?" "Well I haven't known you that long!" "Severus you have known me since you were ten and I was eight!" "I thought you were nine!" "You thought wrong," Eve snapped while the owner laughed. "Well I think you two should have the jobs. It seems like you need them," the man smiled. "Really?! Oh thank you sir," Eve cried. "Your very welcome young miss!" "Severus use your manners," Eve hissed at Severus. "Huh? Oh uh yeah thank you sir," Severus murmured as he shook the mans hand. Severus led Eve back to the car and they drove to the apartment and began unpacking everything immediately. They were ready and excited to live their lives without those awful excuses of women named Linda and Rose. They couldn't wait.
Eve was wiping off the counter tops when she saw the little girl sitting outside. It looked as if she was crying. Eve walked out, rag in hand, and walked up to the little girl. "Please don't hit me," the little girl begged as she held her hands in front of her face as a shield and curled up on the bench. "I would never hit you! I just came to see what was wrong," Eve smiled. "I had to leave! She was going to kill me Mrs.! She hates me and I don't understand why," the little girl cried. Eve sat by the girl and pulled her in a hug while she let the girl cry on her shoulder. She waited until the little girl had calmed down some before questioning her. "What's your name," Eve said gently. "Angel," Angel sniffed. "That's a pretty name," Eve smiled"My name is Eve. Can you tell me who it is that hates you so much that this happened?" "My mother," Angel said quietly"My father left us when I was four. I don't really remember him. Mother changed after that. She beat me and called me names but I let her. She must be in so much pain and who am I to get in her way of getting over depression? She deals with it in that way and I let her but I've had enough! I don't want to be mean and leave her but she needs it," Angel said sadly. Eve looked at the girl astonished. She didn't look very old and she was talking in this way. She truly was an angel. "Well I don't mean to be rude but how old are you?" "I am ten," Angel sighed. "Oh! Well we must get you to the police station and tell them! Don't worry about your mother. She will be fine. She needs to realize that she dealt with her depression the wrong way and jail will give her time to do that," Eve smiled as she stood up and held out her hand. Angel took Eve's hand immediately and Eve helped her up. She knew this girl was going to need as much help as possible and she was going to be the one to give it to her. Severus had watched Eve from the moment she left the counter. He couldn't believe what she had done. He knew she was nice but he didn't know she was willing to do something like that. Severus smiled as Eve gave a thumbs up signal with her hands to tell him to cover her shift. He wondered how she could do things like that on her own free will when he couldn't even do something like that. Eve smiled and said to the girl"You know, my father left me to. I was four as well. He came back when I was around eleven. He was a magician. A good one really. He just... Turned bad I guess you could say." "What did he do?" "He killed my mother and now, he wants to kill me." "That's terrible! Why does he want to kill you?" "Because I'm powerful. More powerful than him. I am in his way. My mother was in his way and now, so am I." "He's not an ordinary magician is he?" "No. He is quite special." "Is he a sorcerer or a wizard?" "Sorcerer. My mother was one to. She was part of a big family of them. That's why I am needed out of the way. I was in the safety of an abusive mother figure. That's why I stayed with her but now I am on my own. He can find me now and kill me. As long as Severus is okay though I will die willingly." "Your like me then with the abusive figure. Who is Severus?" "My best friend. I found him the day I found out my brother was dead but he is really not or I don't believe so anyway." "I wouldn't either. Here's a piece of advice I have learned throughout my life. Be thankful, keep trying, and never give in because things will get better or get worse no matter what you do. You can die a selfish and greedy person or a thankful and giving person. Whatever you die as there has been something that happened to make you that way and you have to embrace it, not defy it." "That's smart advice for such a young girl." "I know." "Did you go to school? I never did. I had to learn by books I found around the house. They came in handy sometimes although if I got caught, I would suffer greatly. I have a scar in the shape of a ballon on my arm from it. She thought it was funny. Told me balloons are what normal kids wanted not books." "I went to school but I got scars from there. They also thought it funny for someone to read," Angel smiled as she showed Eve burn marks on her arms and legs. "What did they do to you," Eve asked horrified. "Oh, they threw me in a fireplace. One of them had a mom who was the principle so they had easy access to the fireplace in the office. Don't worry. They were just having some fun." "Fun? Fun? They could have killed you!" "But they didn't." The rest of the ten minute walk was quite as Eve thought about Angel. She was strange but in a good way and she knew what she was talking about. Eve smiled up thankfully at the police officer who was sitting at the desk. He had sent officers to Angels house immediately and arrested her mother. They are on their way now to bring her back. When Angels mother walked in, Eve could immediately see the resemblance. They had the same blonde hair and the same nose but not the same blue eyes Angel had. "YOU BRAT! YOU RATTED ME OUT! I HATE YOU! IT'S YOUR FAULT I AM HERE! YOU ARE SO STUPID AND UGLY AND I BET EVERYONE WHO SETS THEIR EYES ON YOU HAVE TO LOOK AWAY BECAUSE THEY ARE AFRAID THEY MIGHT BE TURNED TO STONE!" "Excuse me m'am but I don't think you have any right to say these things to your daughter," Eve cut in before the woman could continue with any threats that might actually hurt Angel. "And who are you," the woman snapped at Eve. "I am the one who told your daughter to turn you in. She did the right thing. You need to figure you life out ms. and Angel needs to be somewhere safe." "YOU B****," the woman screamed. "I know what you are but what am I," Eve smiled. "UGH," The woman screamed and started thrashing around and trying to bite the guards as they carried her away which made Eve and Angel laugh. "We also have some other issues we need to deal with ladies. Angel here as no relatives that we know of and is going to have to be sent to an orphanage," the officer said as soon as the woman had disappeared. "I'll take her," Eve said immediately"I'll adopt her. Me and my best friend ,Severus, can take care of her." "Okay well I suppose you can adopt her. You are eighteen or older...?" "I'm eighteen and Severus is twenty," Eve smiled. She was glad she was going to get to help Angel. After what she has been through she deserved it. "Okay then just fill out this paper work and she is all yours," the officer said while handing Eve the papers which she filled out immediately. "Thank you so much," Angel thanked Eve again as they stood outside the door of the candy store. "Stop thanking me," Eve laughed as she and Angel walked in. "SEVERUS," Eve cried. Severus walked out of the back with a cup of water in his hand. "Yes Eve," Severus asked while taking a drink of his water. She sounded excited. "WE'RE PARENTS!" Severus spat out his drink and cried out"WHAT?!" Eve laughed so hard that she fell to the ground. She couldn't believe Severus would think that! "Severus," Eve cried out once she had calmed down"I adopted this girl!" "Oh. That explains a lot. How did that happen?" "It's a long story."
It had been a week and a half since Eve and Severus adopted Angel or more like Eve adopted Angel. Severus was a big help. He always helped Eve take care of Angel and treated her like she was his own child. He gave money to her for Angel and all the clothes and things she needed. Eve and Severus had became closer in this week and half. Closer than they ever would have thought. The two wouldn't leave each other's side. Eve and Severus had to share a room now because Angel was a child and needed more space. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough money to buy another bed yet. They planned on selling the jewelry later for important needs. Right now, they didn't see any use to get the money when they didn't actually need it. Eve sighed as she walked in Angel's room to see her sleeping peacefully. Suddenly, Angel began to toss and turn in her sleep. Eve ran over quickly and began shaking Angel. "Wake up Angel! Wake up," she begged until finally she opened her eyes and tears began to fill her eyes. "Your alive," she gasped "Your alive! He is coming! Oh Eve! It's your father," Angel cried out as she hugged Eve tightly. "M-my father? He's coming? To kill me," Eve asked astonished as she sat on Angel's bed. She was going to have to be on the look out. Her father was a cold murderer. He would stop at nothing to find her. "Does he know? Where our location is I do mean," Eve asked after a long silence. If he knew, she was as good as dead. "Yes. Eve he said he would be meeting you soon. Are you in danger," Angel asked quietly, her bottom lip quivering. Her guardian, savior, and friend could die at the hands of her own father and it scared Angel. "Of course not," Eve lied" Now go get ready child. We have to get to the candy store." Angel nodded and began her morning routine while Eve went to find Severus. She had to tell him her father was back. "Severus? Is that you," Eve asked as she walked in the kitchen. She saw a shadow beside her, on the tile floor. She knew that wasn't Severus. "GET OUT OF MY HOUSE," Eve screeched at the man, causing him to cover his ears. Her father smirked and snapped his fingers and was gone. Eve wouldn't know what hit her when he was done. "Eve," Severus called as he ran towards her scream"Eve, what's wrong," he asked worriedly as he ran in the kitchen. What he saw surprised him. Eve was sitting on the floor, CRYING. Eve never cried. She would get upset or yell or even coop herself up inside of a room but never would she cry. This was the third time Severus saw Eve cry. Out of all his twenty years, he had only seen her cry three times. That is saying something. "You're all in danger now," she cried"You are all going to die! IT'S ALL MY FAULT," Eve continued to cry. Her throat was soar and her eyes hurt but she didn't care. Severus pulled Eve into a hug, even though he didn't know why she was crying. It must be important though because Ever wouldn't cry over something stupid. She must be telling the truth. Eve silently sent a cup out of the cabinets and moved her hand so the cup would float to the sink and fill up with water. She didn't care that Severus saw her use her powers. He was going to see them eventually. Eve took the cup from midair as it floated over to her and began sipping on it. She felt awful and guilty and sad and just plain angry. Her father was a sick, cruel person in search of power. "E-Eve," Severus said cautiously"How did you do that," he asked. How did she make that cup go to her? Maybe there was a string that made it seem like it was flying. Yeah, that's what it is. "I have abilities that you don't," Eve admitted. She didn't want Severus to know just yet. He might freak out and leave"We need to get to work," she added. Severus nodded and got up, helping Eve up as well. This accidentally knocked over get cup of water, spilling it all over the floor. Eve grabbed the air with her hand and the mess was instantly cleaned up. She didn't even want to see Severus' face. He would question her. "Come on Angel! You might make some more friends today," Eve said, smiling when Angel walked in. She was wearing a floral dress that she always wore to the candy shop. She loved making friends. Eve snapped her fingers and all three of them were outside the candy shop and with a wave of her hand, the door opened. She was going to need practice if her father was coming in town to visit. He put up very good fights. "Well come in," Eve said to Severus as she noticed him standing outside. Angel had walked in like it was normal to come everyday in that way. Of course, she knew Eve's secret. Severus nodded and stepped in, cautiously staring at Eve. Something was different about his best friend. She was never able to do something like that before. How was she able to now? "Severus, we need to talk," Eve said seriously before walking over to the back and turning around, motioning for Severus to follow. Severus followed Eve into the small office in the back room. The room had a broken computer and piles of paperwork. It had glass windows all around it so whoever was in it could observe anyone else working in the back. "Severus, I know you have noticed the different things that have been going on today. I know you don't know why I was crying or how I can do the thing I can and I will explain then to you, okay?" Severus nodded ,confused"Okay. I want to know why you were crying first," he said for he was curious as to why she was on the floor in the first place and what made her decide to use her powers. "My dad is back," she said immediately, her words full of hatred and disgust. She will never forgive that man. "Isn't that good," Severus asked confused. His father had died long ago and he couldn't get his back. Why didn't Eve want hers back? "No! He is a murderer! He wants to kill me and nothing will stop him," Eve cried out"He was the one who killed my mother! He was looking for me! My mother hid me! She was just a bonus to his killing spree," she snapped, leaving Severus shocked. "Eve! Why didn't you tell me? You know I will protect you from him! He can't be as dangerous as you say! He is just a normal man," Severus said. This was the wrong thing to say. "HE IS NOT A NORMAL MAN SEVERUS! HE IS ABNORMAL JUST LIKE ME! HAVE YOU SEEN HOW I TELEPORTED US HERE? OPENED THAT DOOR? GOT THAT GLASS OF WATER? I'M DIFFERENT SEVERUS AND I KNOW YOU WILL FREAK OUT WHEN I TELL YOU WHAT I AM,"Eve screamed out of anger but instantly regretted it. Papers were flying out of the room, confused from Eve's emotions. "What are you," Severus asked quietly"How are you different?" "I'm a sorceress," Eve said ashamed"I am more powerful than him. He is out to get me. He wants power. He is greedy and will stop at nothing to get it." Severus stood there shocked, wondering why Eve was lying to him"Eve, why are you lying? There is no such things as sorcerers or whatever you call them! Tell me the truth!" "I AM TELLING THE TRUTH! YOU ARE JUST BLIND SEVERUS," she screamed and the anger radiated off of her. She couldn't control her powers now. The windows beside them began to explode into shards of glass, one by one. The shards of glass put cuts and scratches all over Severus and Eve but neither noticed. Eve was busy cleaning up the mess. With a wave of her hand the glass pieces lifted off the floor and their clothes and began to mend themselves while Severus watched in awe. She was telling the truth. "Now do you believe me," Eve asked quietly as she turned to Severus. She was hoping he would still be her best friend. She needed him. "Yeah, I do. Why didn't you tell me? I know you were afraid and all but I have known you for ten years! I think we could trust each other with this and everything else." "I think we can as well. I'm sorry Severus. I should have told you," Eve smiled up sadly at Severus. "You don't have to be sorry," Severus smiled as he held out his arms for Eve. She immediately jumped into him and they both hugged, each now knowing the dangers ahead. Eve and Severus both had something change inside them at that moment. Their stomachs felt funny and a new emotion filled their bodies. Severus was confused and didn't pay much attention to it, thinking it was his imagination. Eve knew better. Eve knew what this feeling was but she didn't want to believe it. She didn't know wether Severus felt it or if he didn't. Either way, she was not going to except the emotion quickly. She was not going to have any feelings besides brotherly love towards Severus. She wouldn't let it happen. The two walked out of the small office and back in the back. Severus smiled and waved bye at Eve when they parted because he worked in that area. Eve just smiled and walked out. She needed to check on Angel. "Angel," Eve called as she looked around the shop. She smiled when she saw Angel talking to a group of kids outside. Suddenly, Angel was slapped across the face. Hard. Eve wasn't going to stand for poor Angel being bullied again. She has had enough of it for a lifetime. "HEY," Eve cried as she ran out of the shop"What do you think you are doing?" "Having fun," the boy who hit Angel replied while laughing. He thought that was funny? Eve will show him funny. Eve lifted her pointer finger in an up motion and then pointed down and began spinning it in circles. The boy was lifted off the ground, turned upside down, and began spinning really fast. Eve threw her finger lazily to the right and the boy flew over and fell down while the others rushed to help him. Eve snickered before turning to Angel. "Come on. We better get in before they come to their senses!" Angel laughed"Thank you Eve! I don't want to sound mean but he slapped like a girl," She admitted. Eve laughed"He acts like one to," she said while putting an arm over Angel. Little did they know, they were being watched.
Angel happily skipped into her home and into the kitchen. She failed to notice the man outside of the window until he knocked, causing her to spill her drink. Angel looked up at the man and smiled"Hello! Are you lost," she asked, forgetting the no talking to strangers rule. "Yes," the man smirked"Do you have a map I can use to find my way home," he asked as he stepped towards the backdoor. "Of course," Angel replied as she opened the back door cluelessly. She didn't realize who this man was and what dangers were brought to her at that moment. The man smiled and held up his hand, a knife instantly appearing as he smiled wickedly. Angel was shocked. This man couldn't be a sorcerer could he? "Where is it," Richard hissed at the girl"Where is that stupid thing," he yelled as Angel cowered backwards. "What thing? I don't know what you are talking about," Angel said as she ran into a desk and felt behind her for a weapon. "THE GIRL YOU IDIOT! WHERE IS THE GIRL," Richard screamed as he began to walk closer to the girl, not noticing the lamp in her hands. "I would NEVER sell out my mother," Angel hissed as she lifted the lamp above her head and swung it down, hitting Richard across the head. Richard grabbed his head in pain"Foolish girl," he hissed before falling to the ground as Angel jumped out of the house and ran. Angel ran across the street and down another road, trying to get to the candy store to warn Eve. "Eve, Severus," Angel cried out as she ran in the store. Angel ran into Eves arm and began blurting out her explanation. "He tried to kill me! He is looking for you! I told him I would never tell him where you are and hit him with a lamp! Oh Eve I'm sorry," Angel cried. "You hit him with a lamp," Severus laughed as he came in the room but stopped when he saw the two girls faces"Right, not the time to joke. I got it." Eve gulped quietly and looked at Severus. He could die because of her. For weeks she thought she was safe and now they would be hurt because of her. Eve would be most saddened by Severus' death if he did die. She was beginning to love him as more than a brother and no matter what she did she couldn't stop it from happening. No one can choose who they love. Richard got up slowly, gripping his head. He instantly tracked down the girl with a simple hand motion and laughed. She was at a candy store where Eve must be. Richard flew to the store as quickly as he could. Once he got there, he saw Eve hugging Angel with Severus watching them closely. He threw open the door, locking it behind him and closing the blinds on all of the windows. He didn't want anyone seeing what he was about to do. "What's going on in here," the owner of the store asked as he walked through the door from the back. Severus hadn't come back for a while and then he heard a door slam. Richard chucked a knife at the man who fell down as soon as it hit him. Eve gasped and ran to the man before getting back up and glaring at Richard. "There you are, Angel is it? Well, you still owe me something," Richard chuckled as he pulled another knife out from thin air. "I don't owe you anything," Angel screamed at the man"You owe Eve! You owe everyone! We don't owe you anything at all!" Richard chuckled and threw the knife at the girls heart. Eve screamed as everything began to go in slow motion around her. Eve jumped towards Angel, trying to block the knife from entering her body. Eve was to late. She didn't make it in time. Eve screamed and cried as Angel fell to the ground, still breathing but barely. She couldn't believe her father would take things this far. "You b******," Eve screamed as she covered Angels body. She wanted to protect Angel. Severus had leaped at the man and began punching him senseless as Richard failed to throw Severus off of him. When Richard finally got free he smiled, showing the few teeth he had left and said"No need to be violent now. I just wanted to tell you Eve, the war has begun," and with that he disappeared in a cloud of smoke. Severus ran over to Eve and gently lifted her up. Eve began clawing and screaming at him to let her go and tried to get back to Angel. "Eve," Severus whispered quietly as he tore her away from the sight of Angel"Stop. You can't save her." "E-eve," Angel said quietly"I h-hope you a-and Severus n-name one o-of your kids a-after m-me," she smiled before closing her eyes and taking a last breath of air, silently laughing at the blush that had appeared on Eves face. Eve cried even more as she turned to Severus and buried her head in his chest. Angel meant a lot to her and now she was gone. "It's my fault," Eve cried"She is dead because of me! I did this to her! Severus you could die to! If you die I'll die and then I won't be able to save anyone and it will be all my fault." "Eve don't think that way. I won't die, you won't die, and this isn't your fault. It was Angels time to go. She wouldn't want you to be blaming this on yourself," Severus told her. "Your right," Eve murmured as she wiped off her tears"Thank you Severus. You're a great friend. I don't know what I'd do without you." "I don't know what you'd do without me either. You might have been in several car crashes by now and living in a cardboard box," Severus joked. Eve laughed"I might just have been in a cardboard box Severus and I've got you to thank that I'm not." "Well, I am a pretty amazing person. You could thank me for a lot of things," Severus continued, trying to get both of their minds off of death. "That's true," Eve smiled"We need to call the police. Tell them what happened and everything," She sniffled. "Yeah your right. Come on, I'll wait outside while you call them okay," He asked gently as he let go of her, only getting a nod in respond. Eve walked to the phone and called the police"Hello? Yes I would like to report murder," Eve stated while trying to stop crying. "My father came to the candy store and killed my adopted daughter and the owner of the store and me and my best friend,Severus, are here now. We saw the whole thing." Eve told the police the address before beginning to cry even more as she hung up the phone. She couldn't believe Angel was dead. The police soon showed up and began investigating the whole store. They took pictures, picked up objects, got fingerprints, the usual thing they do after a crime. "Thank you for letting us check the place out," an officer said as she smiled at Eve"I was wondering if we could question you and your friend Severus?" "Of course," Eve sniffled as she managed out a smile. She would do anything possible to catch her father. She didn't want to have to catch him herself. "Now, you say it was your father who killed these people," the officer asked politely. "Yes," Eve nodded"He already killed my mother looking for me. He killed them to because of me," she said as she put her head in her hands. "I think that is enough questions for now," the officer said, sensing Eves distress about this situation. The officer gently lead Eve outside to her partner. He was interrogating Severus. You could see how stressed Severus was as he ran a hand through his hair and sighed. He had seen enough death for a lifetime. "Thank you sir. Your information will be very helpful," the officer nodded as he walked back to his car. The female officer handed Eve over to Severus, smiled, and left. Severus put an arm around Eve and led her to their car. He was worried about her. She had never been that upset before. "Severus," Eve finally said as they parked in the parking lot. She looked over at him and smiled a little. "Yeah," Severus asked as he looked over at her"Do you need anything," he asked. "No. I want to say thank you again. You have helped so much," Eve smiled. "Stop saying that," Severus said while shaking his head"You don't need to thank me!" Eve smiled and shook her head. Severus could be so stubborn at times! Severus saw Eve in a different way that day. He didn't see just his best friend. He saw something more. Severus almost gasped out loud at his sudden realization. He didn't want to believe it but it was true. Severus was in love with his best friend.
Eve was still crying weeks later about Angel. She felt so bad. She could have saved her. She might have been able to do something to help but the problem was, she didn't. Eve wanted to blame herself but she knew it was her fathers fault. She knew her father was a murderer and didn't care about the poor innocent old man and little girl he had killed. "Eve," Severus whispered"You have to get up. The funeral is starting in two hours and you need to get ready," He said as he gently shook her. Eve just groaned and didn't move. She didn't want to move. She just wanted to sit there and die. She could be with Angel then. "Eve," Severus murmured and then sighed. He picked her up off of the floor and threw her over his shoulder. He was going to make her get ready. Eve sighed as Severus sat her down in their room and closed the door. Why was he so pushy? Eve went and put on all black anyways. She wanted to be there for Angel and didn't care if it made her go completely insane. When she walked out, Severus smiled and lead her out the door. He was worried about Eve here lately. She always stayed on the floor and only ate when he was asleep. At least... He hoped she was eating at that time. "Here we are," Severus said as he pulled the car in the parking lot of the cemetery. They had chose a place close to the candy store to place the two bodies. "We are gathered here today to...," the man started but Eve zoned out after that. She just stared at the lifeless bodies. She had seen them alive only weeks ago and now... They were dead. Eve watched Angels body as tears began coming out of her eyes once more. She didn't like to cry. It made her feel weak and vulnerable but here she was, crying away. Eve looked up as she heard people screaming and running away. There, in the middle of a ceremony, was her father. He was killing people left and right as he laughed. "THIS IS YOUR FAULT EVE," Richard screamed at his daughter"THEY ARE DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU AND NOW SO ARE THESE PEOPLE," he laughed. Eve stood up quickly and got in front of Severus to protect him"IT'S NOT MY FAULT," she screamed back at him"IT'S YOUR FAULT!" "IT DOESNT MATTER ANYWAYS! LET'S HAVE A FUN LITTLE CHAT SHALL WE," Richard asked as he threw a knife at Eve. Eve quickly moved out of the way, dragging Severus with her. She wasn't going to let him get hurt. She didn't care what the costs were. "FINE! IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THAT WAY, WE WILL," screamed Eve as flew up and towards her father. Eve dodged knife after knife and waited until her father stopped before covering Severus with a protective shield. "JUST GIVE UP YOU BRAT," Richard screamed"YOU WON'T WIN!" "I WILL WIN AND I WILL PROTECT EVERYONE HER FROM YOU," Eve screamed back"YOU WON'T BE ALIVE TO KILL ANYONE AFTER THIS!" They began battling once again, explosions going off in different parts of the ground because of uncontrolled anger. "I WILL KILL YOU JUST LIKE I KILLED YOUR BROTHER,"Richard screamed as he threw his head up in anger. Eve took this as an advantage and threw three knifes at her father. Richard gasped as he was hit. He couldn't comprehend what kind of pain he was going through. It hurt and he couldn't believe that this hurt so bad. "I did it," Eve murmured as she flew back towards the ground"I am a murderer." Eve walked backwards and stumbled over a chair. She couldn't believe what she had done. She had just killed another human being. She was a murderer. Eve lay on the ground and began to whimper but didn't dare cry. Her father was not completely dead yet and she didn't want his last sight to be her crying. "I HOPE YOU GO TO H***," Severus screamed at Richard from his shield. He began pounding on the shield, trying to get to Eve. The shield came off because of how weak Eve was at the moment. Once that final amount of magic had been let out of her, she began to cry. Eve cried for Angel, she cried for her dad, she cried for all the people who had died and she cried for herself. She should be the one dead, not all these innocent people. Severus ran over to Eve and knelt down beside her. He turned her around and began shaking her, trying to get some noise out of her just to ensure him she wasn't dead. "Stop Severus," Eve finally gasped out"I'm fine! I just can't believe what I did. Am I murderer Severus," Eve asked quietly as she looked at him. "No your not a murderer. Yeah you killed your father but he deserved it. You were just avenging all those people who were killed by him," Severus reassured her. "Do you really think so," Eve asked. She didn't believe Severus. She was a murderer and there was no doubt about it. "Yeah... I really do," he murmured back as he looked down at her"And you should to. You did this for a good reason." Eve nodded and took a deep breath"I believe you. At least it's all over now. I couldn't stand that man," Eve smiled. Severus smiled back as he picked her up bridal style and carried her to the car. The police would come any minute and he wouldn't forgive himself if he let her be sent to jail. "Thank you Severus," Eve murmured"I would probably be sitting in a jail cell with a whole bunch of smelly girls right now if it wasn't for you." "Your exaggerating a bit there Eve," Severus laughed"All I did was carry you out of that place! It's not that big of a deal!" Eve laughed"You can't blame me for exaggerating! Who wants to be in a jail cell all day with people who could kill you any second? I defiantly don't want to." Severus laughed as they pulled into the parking lot" I don't want to either Eve. I'd rather go back to live with my mother!" Eve laughed and nodded in agreement"Can we celebrate with an ice cream party," she asked sweetly. Severus shook his head as they walked in the door"I guess we can. I think we have a little left," he smiled as he walked to the kitchen and got the ice cream tub and two spoons. When he got back, Eve was waiting at the table patiently. Severus chuckled silently. She always had loved ice cream. "You know," Eve started as she took another spoon of ice cream"We never did go let Angel visit her mother so she could tell her to go to h***." Severus laughed as he to got a spoon of ice cream"We can do it for her some day." "That should be fun. Hey you know your dead daughter? Yeah well she wants you to rot in this jail cell and go to h***," Eve laughed. Severus laughed"She would probably scream at you that she doesn't care. She would probably yell names at you and cuss you and Angel out." "Probably! Could you imagine me in there? I could be stuck with her! How awful would that be?!" "Very! You would be sprawled out in a corner, begging somebody to get you out of there!" "I would go insane! I wouldn't last three minutes in a place like that! I've heard it's awful!" "I have to. They might be over exaggerating though," Severus reasoned. "Might be," Eve scoffed while shaking her head. "What? You don't know the place until you see it!" "I don't want to see it though." "To be honest, I don't really want to see it either Eve." Everything went silent as the two continued to eat ice cream. They enjoyed the silence. After all the excitement from earlier in the day, it was good to have some peace. Severus looked at Eve as she ate. He was done eating ice cream and the tub was almost empty. he couldn't resist when he began to speak. "Eve," he said as she looked up"You have a little something right there," He said pointing at her lips. Ice cream was all over her mouth. "I can get it for you," he murmured as he leaned towards Eve and softly kissed her on the lips. "I never thought there was a way miracles could actually come true," Severus whispered as they parted. Eve smiled"There is always a way." THE END
