Memorial Day 2013

  1. Today is May 27, 2013 and it's once again Memorial Day in the United States. With all of the men and women serving over seas and in many many countries around the world I would just like to say, thank you.

Some of you I have had the pleasure of knowing through indirect contact on here or through friends and family at home. You are not forgotten.

To my brothers in the Marine Corps, Semper Fi. Keep your head up and move forward until the job is done. This is what we were trained to do and I know you, as well as every other member of our armed forces will do your best to do what your orders direct you to.

Memorial Day in the U.S. is not a day for barbecues or for you to enjoy a day off from school, it's a day for you to look around you and be thankful for the freedoms and liberties afforded to you because those who took the oath to defend you are still doing so and willingly put their lives on the line for you to be able to go to school or stand in line to protest against them. Yes, your right to protest what they do is protected because they are defending that right.

So before you pick up a sign in protest, before you go to a barbecue, or before you take your family out to the lake to enjoy some quality time together, take the time to remember those who can't and those who never will be able to. Take the time to put a knee to the ground and pray that they get the chance to make it home so someone else can fight in their place just so they can see their family again.

Today is Memorial Day, remember them, honor them, and never forget. Some people don't get that luxury...

  7. Keep safe those who are serving now and thank you to those that served in the past.

    Love from Blighty.

  8. Memorial Day is not to honor the living veteran. That's what November 11 is for.

Memorial Day is the day that's set aside to remember with gratitude and pride all those who served and died for our country and our freedom.

May your day be filled with memories and peace

    God bless America.

  9. Memorial Day is to honor All those that serve past and present. Armed forces day is a day to remember what happened on Sept. 11 and Veterans Day is a day to remember the living veterans as well as those who have passed on.

No specific day is given to just one group of people that still live or that have passed on. Regardless of any one persons translation or perception of the day we should always be aware and give thanks on all of these days because without them we would have no civil liberties.

  10. I do thank you for your posts

  11. Personally I see no harm with remembering the people who fought/are fighting for your freedoms on more than one set day of the year

  12. Neither do I. I have many friends still serving. Some I have lost track of throughout the years but I always remember them and those who I went through boot camp with.
