In the next half hour Daniel pulled up in front of the apartment building. I had been waiting in the front unsure of what to do. I watched as he got out of the car quickly. "Helena!" he shouted and he ran over to me. "What happened?" "My sister... I'd rather not explain. It's sort of confusing." "Tell me." "I will after. Just please... I don't have anywhere to stay at the moment. I know it's too much to ask but... can I stay with you?" He looked away from me. He placed a hand on his forehead and cleared his throat. "Sure." I frowned and looked at the ground. I felt awkward after saying those things earlier and then asking for help. Maybe I was being too selfish but I didn't know what to do. "Are you sure?" "Whatever," he said. "Get in the car, I'll drive you to my place now." I nodded and sat in the front seat. As we drove I looked at him and then looked out the window. I looked at him again and bit my lip. "I'm sorry." "What?" "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that earlier. I don't know what came over me." "It's alright. It's obvious you haven't been doing so well. I was out of line for telling you what to do." "No I was out of line. You were right. I should be more careful about who I can trust and who I can't. I should have been more aware. He just seemed like someone I could have trusted so I opened myself up to him without thinking it over." "If you trust him then I guess I shouldn't be so worried. I mean you are a smart enough girl to know what you want." "Sometimes I wonder if I'm really that smart," I laughed. He smiled. "Nah. You are very smart and you are a really strong girl. I like that about you." I blushed. "Thank you." "I called him." "What?" "I called Dante after our conversation. I told him about what really happened and about how you are coping with it." "What did he say?" "He pretended not to be interested but he kept asking questions. Maybe he's concerned about you. I honestly don't know. But hopefully he reconsiders." "I've only caused him trouble. In less than a week I managed to screw up everything." "I wouldn't say it is your fault. I'd say it was just bad timing in all these mistakes that have happened. Don't be so hard on yourself okay?" I nodded. "Alright." His apartment was a good fifteen minutes away from mine and much nicer. It was a two bedroom, one and a half bathroom apartment with a nice kitchen and living space. It seemed so empty but then again he lived alone. "Sorry about the mess," he said. I only laughed. There were a few sheets of paper on the floor and a bowl on the dining table." "I don't see any mess." "Well it's rather messy for me," he admitted and he quickly cleaned his papers and dishes. "Make yourself comfortable. I'm going to set up the bed in the other bedroom," he said and he left me sitting on the couch. Almost immediately after he left my cellphone rang. My heart skipped a beat as in a way I already knew who it was. "Hello?" I answered calmly. "Hey. It's Dante. I want to talk to you."

"You want to talk?" "Yes. Can I come over?" He asked. He didn't sound desperate or like he wanted to. But he did sound urgent. "I-I'm not at home," I said quietly. "It's almost midnight. Why the hell not? Where are you?" I bit my lip. "Well my sister kicked me out for reasons and well... I didn't really have anywhere else to go... so I-" "Let me guess. You are at his house. Am I right?" He asked. I felt a sudden guilt and I felt as if I had been exposed in a bad way. I felt almost ashamed of the position I was in. "Yes I'm at Daniel's house." There was silence on the other end for a bit before he spoke again. "He called me." "He told me." "I'm not sure whether I'm going to change my mind or not." I only bit my lip unsure of what to say. "Meet me in a half hour at the corner of St.Mary's road. That twenty four hour coffee shop. I would like to speak with you in person." "But I-" "Don't make excuses or I won't even think about taking you back," he said and he hung up. I sighed and put my phone down. "Who was that?" Asked Daniel as he walked into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. "Dante." He closed the refrigerator door and looked at me. "What did he want?" "Too meet." "Meet?" "I don't know exactly what he wants to talk about but it seems urgent so... I'm going to go." "Seriously? You're going to him?" "Yes. If he's thinking of reconsidering then I want to try my best to get on his good side. If it means I have to in a shameful manner, I want my mother to stay alive." He sighed. "If that's what you want then I'm not going to stop you. But just think of those around your first before you do anything stupid." "I think I've learned that already," I said and I smiled. He smiled too and he shook his head. "How long are you going to be?" "I'm not sure. All he said was he wanted to meet me at that twenty four hour coffee shop at the corner of St.Mary's. He sounded a bit urgent..." "Well all I can say is be careful. Don't let him say any unnecessary things alright? And as I just said. Before accepting anything he may or may not offer, think of those around you and those who are close to you." I nodded. "Yes. I will think before I act. If he gives me another chance... I will do my best not to mess anything up." He smiled and ran his fingers through my hair. "I'm sure you won't." I blushed and I grinned. "I'll see you later," I said and I left the apartment.
