Physical Discipline

Discussion in 'Off Topic' started by __BLU__, Mar 27, 2013.

  1. As many of you may know, the rate of children dying by the hands of their parents is growing rapidly. Many states in the US are moving towards NO PHYSICAL DISCIPLINE. However, the rates of our justice system is growing as well. Is this due to lack of discipline? How do you all feel about physical discipline? Do you think one should be able to tell another how and when to discipline their child?

    Intellectual dialogue please

  2. I am pro spanking. 

  3. No. It may be harsh but no. Nobody should tell a parent how to disciple their child. Or how. U can give advice if ya want though. Etc Etc.

  4. that didn't come out how I wanted it to come out oh well.

  5.  I believe that physical discipline teeters on a very thin line.

On one hand i don't believe that anyone has a right to tell someone how to raise their child (in respect to discipline..)

However, on the other where can we draw the line between "discipline" and abuse?

That's the problem with allowing corporal punishment. A swat on the bottom? Sure why not. Getting a switch from the tree, using a leather belt.. Etc? No. To me that crosses into the abuse category.

  6. What were you trying to say?

  7. Discipline and Abuse are two different things

  8. Eh, doesn't matter 

  9. I am a firm believer in disapline my mother and father busted my butt whenever I did something wrong. I turned out never having detention never being arrested never touching drugs and never even touching a cigarette. So disapline away I say just no abuse.

  10. My bad mis spelt words

  11. We had a debate about this one day in forums as well. People thought by "disciplining their child" we meant beating the shit out of them. I believe in discipline. But not child abuse. I was spanked, hit on my ass with a belt, hit with the sandal, etc when I was a kid and thanks to that I am who I am. And I believe I'm a good person. Irl. Respectful and stuff.

Anywho. According to doctors and stuff, the best way to "hit" your kid for dicsipline is a smack on the palm of the hand. Because there are fewer veins there and it's not as sensitive as other skin but it still hurts them. Doesn't leave bruises or any cuts of the like. Of course you're not gonna hit em hard. Just like a high five with a mean tone of voice so it gets to them more. That's how I see it est anyway. I'm still okay with soanks and stuff.

I dont even know if that's what this thread is about. But yeah.

  12. And I might add, people said hitting their kid for discipline (obviously not beating the shit out of them) was child abuse. Which, it isn't.

    Just sayin.

  13. We know that discipline and abuse are different. However, discipline can lead to abuse.

  14. As long as the parents are not hitting the child because they're angry that he/she broke their television and are hitting them to help them make sure no one else's television has to be broken.

  15. Some states have implemented no spankings at all. Do you feel that was an appropriate decision?

  16. Hell no kids running sold doing whatever they want now

  17. Wild* I hate u autocorrect

  18. Hell yeah. Spankings banned? Pfffft.

That's why all these Swag Yolo dumbasses are on the loose.

  19.  Anya

The problem I see is that there's no way to draw that line. What should be classified as abuse to me isn't to someone else. However, Some people take it too far.
